Nomar is going to AAA Pawtucket on Tuesday for 4 rehab games and will be back in Boston this Saturday.

Carl "Psycho" Everett is also pretty close to returning.

Jason Varitek is now throwing again.

Bret Saberhagen is looking damn good and will most likely pitch in Boston this Friday.

and Pedro is starting to throw as well.

now lets take the equivilant away from the Yankees.

Jeter
Bernie Williams
Jorge Posada
Clemens
and either other unreliable starter.

would the Yankees be one game ahead or even close to the Sox if those injuries were reversed?

BTW, the Red Sox shortstops that have filled in for Nomar have 1/2 as much errors as Jeter with twice as much chances.

Can you say Georgie overpayed his playboy shortstop?

I was at the Yankee game yesterday. There's a reason why we've won the past 3 World Series in a row. It's because we have the best team in all of baseball. No one can compare and that includes the BoSox. BTW, tell those haters to stop burning Yankee hats in the seats because that does nothing to help their cause.

You failed to answer the question.

If your beloved Yankees had the same injuries as the sox, would they still be in the hunt?

BTW, Sports station WEEI here in Boston is organizing a Yankee Elimination party.

I agree about burning the hats, it may start a serious fire.

They should piss on them!

"Roger Clemens is the best 7 inning pitcher in I have ever seen." All time great relief pitcher Dick Radatz on why Clemens can't finish what he starts. I sure remember 1986 against the Mets, he wanted out because he couldn't handle the pressure.

Manny or Mussina?

30 homeruns, 88 RBI .330 average

or

2 games above 500 pitcher.

Money well spent.

Eddymon - while I agree the Yankees need to be beaten like a drum, we have a thread for baseball matters called "The Dugout - 2001" - come talk some smack there!

If Eddymon thinks Boston's going anywhere, that ensures they're going nowhere.

Clemens doesn't finish games? Who does, these days?

Pedro? Oh yeah... That's how he threw his arm out, right? Same thing happens to him every year. It's like clockwork.

Jeter was injured through all of spring training and missed most of the games. His "spring training" was the beginning of the regular season. Call me crazy, but I'll take Jeter's errors this year as opposed to Nomar's nothingness.

When it comes to injuries, you seem to forget El Duque's been out for months, as has David Justice. Those guys are major contributors.

The pitching rotation for the Yanks has been crazy, with very young starters like Ted Lilly, Randy Keisler, Brett Jodey, Christian Parker, and El Duqecito (sp) who everyone thinks could be the next El Duque, hence the name.

Add up El Duque's losses with all the rookies', and that's about 15 losses right there.

I'd take a healthy Yanks squad any day over an equally healthy Sox squad.

As for Mussina vs. Manny? Moose has beaten you guys twice this year, so how can you talk smack about him? I'd take him over Manny, because pitching wins championships. (Not that a Boston fan would know that. )

And with that, I'm gonna close this up. Billy's right, "The Dugout - 2001" is the place to talk baseball. So take up your Yankee bashing there.

Jealous, cursed, Bostonite that you are.
