We have the unfortunate task of reporting this story. Curt "Mr. Perfect" Hennig was found dead in a hotel room in Tampa, Florida today.

Hennig was in town for a show being promoted by Jimmy Hart at the Tampa State Fairgrounds. He was last seen this morning around 9:30 AM by Mickey Jay in his room alive and in good spirits

A few hours later, Hennig was supposed to show up at the gym to work out. When he didn't arrive, a workout partner went back to the room and he was found dead at the age of 44.

We have no more details at this time. We send our deepest condolences out to the Hennig family and friends

Very sad to see that, always sad to see one of your childhood heros fall. Hoping it was from natural causes, too many guys in the wrestling business have been dropping dead from pain kills and other types of drugs to kill the pain.

Yeah, I heard that this morning on the radio on the way to work this morning. Like Robby5150 said, I hope it's not drug related.

My prayers go out to the Mr. Perfect family

DOn't remember this guy. Sad still. I lived through the Von Erichs all dying back in the old days of Jerry the Kign Lawler and Kimala the Ugandan Giant. Rastlin sucks nowadays imo. Bring back the king!!!

I guess I most enjoyed Curt Hennig during his stint with Flair and Heenan. Excellent wrestler, and excellent manager.

It's unfortunate the way so many of these wrestlers go. I'm just hoping it's not the same thing that got Brian Pillman, Rick Rude, and a number of others.

Here's a minor update. Hopefully there will be an official word on the cause of death in the coming days/weeks:

More details on the sudden death of Curt Hennig are coming into the light today. It is being reported that Hennig mentioned to others on the night before his death (Sunday, February 9th) that he was having severe gas pains. Mickey Jay, a referee, invited Hennig to breakfast on the day of his death but Hennig declined and decided to remain in bed.

When the wrestlers for the show Jimmy Hart was putting on showed up around 1 p.m., Hennig was not among them. Davie "The Cuban Assassin" Sierra and his wife headed to the hotel where Hennig was staying and knocked on his door but recieved no answer. They then asked the maid to open the door and that was when they found Curt's body.
