The 80s were my coming-of-age decade. If I could only remember them. Just kidding! (a total 80s phrase)
    Cool bits of the 80s:
Cocaine. Easier to get than booze (when you're underage)
Wine coolers!!! (Danny's gonna buy for us tonight)
Tight pants on men (I wish the baggy pants thing would die, already)
The rebirth of Pop: Madonna, Prince, Michael (pre-Jacko), Devo, Jran Jran, Grandmaster, Public Enemy
The hair: big, long, streaked, teased, sprayed
The hair metal: can you say "in the still of the night I hear the wolf howl hon-ay!!"??
The makeup: blue eyeliner, pink blush, black mascara, Revlon Silver City Pink lipstick (and that's just on the guys!! )
The movies: Purple Rain, Fast Times, Desperately Seeking Susan, Better Off Dead, anything by John Hughes
TV: never better than it was in the 80s. Love Boat, Fantasy Island, Magnum PI, Square Pegs, Dynasty, Dallas
The fashion: high heels, spandex, maxi coats (a la Bon Jovi), bangles, miniskirts, fingerless lace gloves, ruffled shirts
The musical instruments: Simmons Drums, MIDI, Charvel/Jackson, Galleon Krueger amps

Uncool 80s Bits (more or less the same as the above, plus...)
Vanilla Ice (I mean, come on)
    AIDS comes to suburbia
    Just Say No
    Jessica Hahn
    PMRC
    Tammy Faye Baker
    Donald Trump
Women portrayed as brain dead playthings in rock videos

I could go on. The 80s were the 80s, and that's about that. I'm glad the decade happened, but I'm really glad it's over. Besides, the 80s are more fun now when we're talking about them.
    (pretty smile)

    seen those movies,
then everybody probably dressed like Madonna, on Like A Virgin. Right? i'm just guessing. and everybody thought The Breakfast Club and brat pack was cool, molly ringwald, Anthony Michael Hall, Ally Sheedy, Emilio Estevez, Andrew McCarthy, Rob Lowe,

and yes people, i watched/watch reruns of Family Ties, and sometimes different strokes but i think i'v seen all the episodes

i know this is from 1998 but its a nosaglia movie

There can not be an 80's thread without the mention of fringed leather jackets...I know I can't be the only one here that ever wore those!
