When I moved to southwest Missouri years ago from Utah, I heard people talk about spaghetti red. What the heck is that? I thought. Well, I found out. It is overcooked spaghetti topped with meat chili (no beans), shredded cheddar cheese and garnished with dill pickle slices, eaten with knife and fork. It was at that moment I knew I was not in the Rocky Mountains anymore.

Not from my neck of the woods, but I saw turkey sashimi being prepared before.

    That's just wrong!

Yo, LC--I live down the road a spell in Springfield (claim to fame--Brad Pitt, Bass Pro and cashew chicken) and have never heard of that one. Sounds kinda like one of my greasy favorites, Chili Mac from Steak and Shake.

Chili Mac........AAAHHHHHH (saliva drips from bottom lip)

We have something here called Goette. Not really bizarre, but the odd thing is it's supposed to be German, but no one in Germany really eats it.

I guess that makes it a "German" dish

Lutefisk... oh god, no Grandma, no lutefisk! NOOO!

It's white fish soaked in lye and then baked. I'm subjected to it ever Christmas eve. It's a Norwegien thing.

Down around these parts some backwoods folk make hoghead cheese. It consists of boiling the whole head of a pig until it basically falls apart. They take the parts and form a loaf of "cheese". Damn I think I'm gonna puke just typing this.

On a side not who gets ranchstyle beans at the grocery store? My wife is from North Carolina and just looks at me like I'm stupid for wanting a can. Must be a Texas thang.

Growing up in Minnesota we had Goolash. Kind of a hodge podge of stuff. I can best describe it as chili with noodles.

MikeL, Lutefisk is awful, no wonder it never caught on in the rest of the country. I love Leftsa though!!!

    Catsup goes on french fries.

Tartar sauce goes on fish and hamburgers.

Try not to get it mixed up
