Congratulations OSU.

You're an almost equally talented team, top to bottom, as Michigan, but you're a far, FAR better coached squad than Michigan. And your coaches aren't a little better at playcalling, they're a LOT better at playcalling.

I salute you, and give you props.

May Loyd Carr burn in h*ll. Woodson gave him a National Championship. If not for that, he'd be long gone by now.

most entertaining college fooseball game I've seen in a while. That one will be remembered for a long long time.

Great win OSU!

Brett,

Do you really think USC will climb all the way to #2? I hope they do, but I doubt it. Here's my prediction for the final top 5:

(1) Ohio State
(2) Miami
(3) Georgia
(4) USC
(5) Oklahoma

They gotta leap over Georgia Coulda and at least get #3. Georgia was pretty unimpressive over a pretty bad Florida St. team, while SC absolutely throttled Iowa's highly-touted defense in the second half and put up almost 600 yards of offense on the night. There's no team playing better right now.

They could jump over Georgia, but don't be surprised if Miami only falls to #2. Their only loss was in OT to the National Champs.

I believe that USC is the best team in the country. Unfortunately, we'll never get the chance to find out. Division 1A Football is the only sport I can think of where the old axiom, "It doesn't matter how you start, it's how you finish," doesn't apply. It sucks.

Yeah I can hope though. I don't see Miami falling 2 slots, let alone three, those were just pipe dream rankings I guess.

Basically a missed extra point cost USC its season in the 5th game. Damn kicking game, shit all season.

They need playoffs damn it!

Yes, they do.

Do you realize that the Pac 10 went 2 and 5 in the bowl games, and the only 2 winners were USC and UCLA? A good buddy of mine, who is a USC Alum, flew to Maimi for the game. I called him yesterday before the game and reminded him if the Trojans lost, that the Bruins would be the only Pac 10 team to win a bowl game. That would have killed him.

I would have felt his pain too, especially after the beating SC gave UCLA. Can't forget UCLA was playing against a girl in their bowl game though.

The Pac-10's major weakness this year was exposed in all of these bowl games...no defense. SC is the only team in the conference that plays D and that was a big part of that win last night.

Congrats to OSU. I HATE the over-rated Miami and I'm very happy to see OSU win. Although I must say, that in a BOWL GAME situation, I don't think either Miami or OSU would have a chance against either Oklahoma or USC. I believe that the 2 best teams in the nation are Oklahoma and USC, but we'll never know because we don't have a playoff and the BCS system sucks. I don't know who USC played earlier in the season, but I do know that Oklahoma was playing far more outstanding teams than either Miami or OSU, especially Miami.

Playoffs are are required, absolutely.

It boggles my mind when idiots like Michael Wilbon say things like, "....well, college football playoffs could be a big deal, not as big as the basketball playoffs, but still big...."

WHAT?!?!?!?

Football playoffs would be as big, if not bigger than the Final Four, PERIOD, you moron!!!

I do hope that you understand though, Brett, that NFL minor league teams like Michigan and OSU, in spite of getting 1, 2, or 3 losses are going to fare better than flash teams like those in the SEC (or anywhere else) in a playoff system.

You guys may have Johnny Morton or Carson Palmer during any given year, but Michigan had not one, not two, not three, not four, but FIVE FIVE FIVE NFL guys on their offensive line during their 1997 National Championship team. Plus Charles Woodson (not a good CB, an All Pro CB) Brian Griese, Athony Thomas, Mercury Hayes, etc., all NFL guys that would've destroyed USC, Nebraska (or any other flashy southern team) in a playoff system.

It might wind up being more than you can handle, as the supposedly "undermanned" OSU team proved.

Granted, I'm furious with Loyd Carr right now, and his utter refusal to beat a team by more than 14, but at some point, a playoff team favors the NFL minor leagues like OSU and Michigan, and not a flashy-ass team with a weak schedule like FSU or even USC.

I'll say this much for Miami, their coaching staff is doing waaaaay more with equal talent to Michigan than Loyd Carr is.
