Omar is the man when it comes to playing shortstop. Sure there are other shortstops who are better batters but when it comes down to feilding, there is no better than Mr. Vizquel! This guy is like a black hole. Nothing gets by him not even light. This is what he did last year:

    - Tied AL record for the most consecutive games without an error by a shortstop.

    - Made only 3 errors in 156 games last season.

    - Won his 8th straight Gold Glove

And he batted a respectable .287 w/66 RBIs and 7 HR.

The Indians rewarded him by giving him a 2 year $14 million dollar contract. He signed and all parties are happy. Especially the fans.

    GO TRIBE!!!

Omar definetly deserves more recognition then he gets. Unfortunately 3 young ss phenoms changed the outlook on the position. Defensively, Omar is better and more polished then any of them...only Oz was comparable at Short.

Ozzie Smith was the greatest fielding SS ever . . .but Omar Vizquel gets my vote for second best.

    Honorabe mention:

    Mark Belanger
    Larry Bowa

You guys can take your highly regarded shortstops like Garciaparra, Jeter, and ARod

give me Miguel Tejada anyday over those guys

comparable numbers but a lot less money.

watch for OTown this year baby

    Late.

I gotta go with the Wizard, Ozzie Smith.

If I was voteing with my heart, I'd pick Greg Gagne.
