Selig and Fehr better work something out in terms of a labor agreement by Oct. 2001 or their will be no baseball in 2002.

Otherwise teams like the Brewers and Twins (and about 20 others) will never sniff playoff contention again, ever.

I'm with you Hawk! This is ridiculous! The best team in Baseball just got one of the best pitchers in the American League? How is this Fair? Baseball which had been riding a high after the Mcgwire, Sosa home run race will be heading downhill fast if they don't change something, that being putting a salary cap in place. I am slightly biased being a Red Sox fan. Jesus, we're never going to win the world series again, not even in my lifetime.

Panama, I know how you feel. I still haven't recovered from 1986. It was the last time I watched a Red Sox game.

I could just say, "Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah!"

...... But that would be wrong. LOL

On the bright side (for all you Yankee haters), the Yanks fired Chris Chambliss as their hitting coach.

...... But they got someone even better.

(OK, OK, I'm outta here! LOL)

It is ridiculous that a pitcher gets 14.75 million a year. Baseball will be in for a major downfall anyways after the upcoming season. It will be interesting to see who signs A-Rod and Manny.
To think that 4 years ago Belle's mega 5 year 55 million was big lol

Oh by the way....the Indians were the best American League team. Nobody played better the second half of the year. The Yankees can thank the Tribe for not making the playoffs

A-Rod is staying in Seattle! Enough said!

I don't know why all you RS,OO,Minn, and CE fans are complaining?

Hey RS fans!, Pedro is the shit! He completley shut down the M's in all games he pitched against them!

Hey OO fans, The O's are in a rebuilding stage just as were the Yanks 6 years ago!

Hey CE fans, Here's a hint ... Get a new manager!

    LOL, ...

I don't see no one talkin' bout the M's?

Sweet Lou Pinnela has singned a new contract with the M's! That must mean that A-Rod is staying or else he wouldn't have.

Believe me!, we also picked up yet another outfeilder who was a "golden glove" type from Japan.

Who was this years AL Rookie of the year?

    Yup, Susaki from the Mariners!

That must mean we got the JC(JapanConnection) going up here in the PNW(pacific northwest)

    Where is Nintendo Headquarters located?

    That's Right, ...

Mariners will win the next 2 WS! ...

Im a die hard Mariners fan and we have one of the wealthiest ownerships in sports today, but I really think MLB needs to get there act together and fast. MLB needs a spending cap sooooo bad its not funny. These contracts are getting outragouse and the smaller market teams cant compete period. A-ROD will get atleast $20Mill a year for the next 10 yrs or so, thats almost half of the Twins entire team payroll.

They need revenue sharing and spending caps period, Stienbrenner wants no part of this as do many of the other owners but these contracts are killing the other teams.

I dont blame the Yankees for this at all Hell if Stienbrenner wants to hand out money like its candy more power to him, its won him alot of championships but for the game there needs to be some changes. I will be shocked if there isnt a walkout or a lockout in 2002.

Anyone remember the joke from the '80s?

DIF - It's not so much a hatred of the yankees as it is the problem with the runaway widening gap between the have and have-nots. If they want to keep salary conditions as they are, they might as well get rid of the American and National leagues and use the High school sports system of A, AA, AAA, or whatever your state uses to divide school sizes.

OLO - If Arod gets 20 mil a year, he'll actually make 3.5 million more than the entire Twins payroll.

I don't want to begrudge the yankees of taking advantage of the system. But the players association needs to see that they'll lose jobs (teams WILL fold) and a marjority of cites will lose interest causing a huge decline in baseball if something isn't done.

Redblkwht....Tribe had a better record then the Yankees and kicked the shit out of the Yankees during the last week of the season. Finley, Burba and Colon were pitching the best all year and we had the best defense in all of baseball. In the final week of the season, the Indians beat Clemens, Hernandez, Pedro and Wells....stomped in the playoffs my ass

Ok I'll change my opinion...the Yanks can thank the Tribe for not making the playoffs And giving them Daveid Justice

Ratt salad.Whats you opinion of the cubs, indians starting over like the white sox???
Good idea, i think. The braves are wearing out the idea, that theyll win with fixing holes too.Baseball needs to stop following these guys, winning only once isnt a good reason to follow, trends set by the braves-
Peace, no flamin here, just good Baseball discussions, fans!

Red...I know bro, there is no flaming going on...I just have to knock the New Yackers back to reality once in awhile

Not sure about the Cubs too much. It appears they pack the place every night so why they do not have a contender is beyond me. I think it all starts with having Don Baylor running the show

The Indians are in a little trouble. If we sign Manny we will be fine for a few more years. Starting over would be tough now because we traded most of our prospects away. One thing the Indians do have are some big pitching prospects. We still have the best infield in the majors, and if Manny re-signs we will win the Central Division.
