It was the same machine man, and I'm 90% sure the carts were interchangeable

Megadrive to Genesis? Not sure about that one to be honest. I know Master System games from other regions will work...

What little I know about emulation and headers, I think the ROM on the games is essentially the same for each region and should carry over. I know things like Sonic 3D Blast for sure work anywhere - it's programmed to display a different title screen depending though (3D Blast on a US system, 3D Flickies Island on PAL).

I'm thinking you may be safe as far as the games running. However, I can't confirm the carts themselves are the same SHAPE though.

the guy is from ENGLAND,so i don't know if games are different overseas. i e-mailed the guy before i bought it and asked him if it was a for a 16-bit system and he said yes.
then i started to check around because i thought megadrive meant it was for a computer. SEGA had a ill-fated cd like attachment, so i don't know if it is for that or not.

Im pretty sure i used to hire the carts from my video store a few years back, and they were genesis carts a lot of the time.

But it was a while ago.

PAL is a TV system - the USA uses NTSC, australia/europe/asia generally uses PAL.. .I think the basic difference is PAL has more lines/screen, NTSC has less lines, higher refresh rate. I *think* the machine will adjust the display to suit your system, regardless of the carts origin

Neutral bay is a suburb of sydney, north shore, kinda harbourside.

NTSC is the format of all US and Japanese games.

PAL covers Europe, Asia, and South America (though they usually break them into regions like Euope, Brazil, etc).

Things for the Mega CD/Sega CD and newer are really picky about format and region codes. Things before them usually were neutral and relied on the system to determine which code they used (it's easier to release one cart of, say, Bare Knuckle, and just have it function everywhere, making it smart enough to read a US system and change the title to Streets of Rage).

I'm 99.9% sure you'll be fine with a Genesis. Nintendo really started that kind of stuff with the SNES/Super Famicom.
