I had a 68 Buick Special and I put corvette rally wheels on it and had carpet in the back below the back window with big ass speakers sticking out of it and Van Halen 1 in the 8 track because it was 1978

1970 (or was it '72) Chevrolet Nova - the car was some kind of beige, except the rear wheel wells (what was left of them) that had a distinct rust colour! Didn't always run well, but got the job done. When I went to college in 1982, I came back for Thanksgiving break and my mom had traded it for a 1978 (I think it was) Mercury Bobcat with stick-shifting - ech! I saw the Nova a day or two later (don't know how) and someone had managed to fix those wheel wells up real nice!

A '66 army-green Dodge Coronet that was older
than I was and built like a living room.
I crashed that thing more than I now crash
hard-drives and never got a scratch on me.
I actually took down a brick garage with it
(long story) and walked away without so much as
a bruise.

76 Chevette, I kid you not.

It was my Dad's work car and the only thing my folks would let me drive when I turned 16. Red with an automatic on the floor, AM radio and 4 road-chompin' cylinders that would do 0-60 in about 20 minutes. The two things I remember most about it were that the front and rear seats both folded down to make a...ahem...makeshift bed. And that you could pull the key out of the ignition with it still running. Literally lock the car with the engine still puttering like a hamster in a wheel. Amazing.

My first REAL car was a low-ridin' 76 Sunbird--bright red with matching red vinyl buckets that heated to about 150 degrees in July, a Sparkomatic underdash cassette stereo and two Jensen Triax II speakers that I never mounted, but left propped up on the back dash because I dug the eardrum-splitting treble. That thing had the hottest V-6 I've ever seen in a car that size. Dang that thing could move.

Loved that little beast. Loved it loved it loved it.

had a mid to late 60's Ford Falcon that i never drove. sold it for more than i paid for it. first car i got that i actually drove was an 82 Chevette, my mom's old car. it was the base model, so it came with no radio, no rear defroster, and the passenger seat was set in one position, no sliding it forward or backwards...i beat the shit out of that car. got real good at replacing starters and alternators, too...

1987 Chrysler LeBaron...it was a metallic blue, had a malfunctioning trunk, and had a transmission whose shift points would change every so often. It was a great car, though, delivering the Van Halen out the windows quite nicely in my senior year.
