The problem is that's like comparing the money made in the NBA now to the money made by Cousy and Chamberlin and Russell. You just can't do it. The money even just over the last 5 years has grown astronomically. Put it this way. Tiger was the first 2 million dollar winner in one year, in maybe 1997 or so. He now wins 6-7 million in a year, with realistically the same results as far as wins/top tens, etc. $1 million used to be a GREAT year, now you can do a million in one tournament. It's just out there.

But, then, Tiger dominates his sport and "only" earns 7 million (not counting endorsements). Compare that to some other sports. Shit, a second tier pitcher makes that!

Funny to see a name like Nicholas at number 79 but the above mentioned is entirely true.

Another thing to throw into the pot is that what you see on the totals screen there is only a fraction of what they actually make. Each player ,depending on popularity and the ability to draw a crowd, is also granted appearance fees, clinic fees, bonuses galour for their appearance. Whether or not certain players shows up or are on the list to, plays in to how many advertising dollars are spent for the event. It's important to the events to have big name players there and they are willing to shell out personal checks to assure it. Those on that link are just prize winnings for the event itself. I'd be willing to bet that for most of the players in the top 20 or so, the amounts are actually doubled and or tripled with "perks" on the side.

They must have made a mistake with that list, because there is no way that Greg Norman is not in the top 150 on the all time money winners list. In fact, if I am not mistaken, Greg was the first player to exceed 2 million on the money list. I went up and down the list a few times and unless I missed it he is not on there. I know he has been out of commision for the last few years, when the purses have really skyrocketed, but still, before that he was one of the top golfers for a long period of time.

Right! I think Norman's over $15,000,000 for his career.

Within the last 10 years, Tom Kite was the leader on the all time money list. I think Norman passed him, then Tiger passed Norman. See where Kite is now. 'nuff said.
