Ok, fellow geeks, what did you collect as a punk-kid?

Besides the obligatory original run of the Star Wars figures (God, I wish I'd saved them!), I was highly addicted to the Micronauts, ROM:Spaceknight, Shogun Warriors (the big ones), and Matchbox/Hot Wheels! Shit, if I didn't go through my "pyro" phase as a kid-I might still have alot of these lying around. What sucks today is that you never knew "back then" how much those things would be worth if you didn't take them out of the friggin' boxes! I actually bought a couple of my most memorable figures off of eBay (Baron Karza, ROM, Raydeen, etc.) and they weren't cheap! I've learned my lesson and I'm currently collecting every Simpsons figure I can get my hands on! (Even the rare ones from Toyfare!)

    Cool topic~

When I was a kid I collected, Star Wars action toys (the originals from Kenner---still have many of them at my parent's house!) Transformers, GI-Joe, He-Man, and Matchbox and Hotwheels cars~

Toys are cool! The fact is, we never outgrow toys, they just become more expensive! (My toys of today: CD's /DVD's / Stereo Equipment / NEW Star Wars toys...(that's right, some things never change)

GI Joe & Transformers were the mainstays. I had a few He-Man figures, and some M.A.S.K. stuff. And of course Atari games.

I had Garbage Pail Kids, but I wouldn't really consider them toys anymore than I would consider baseball cards toys.

Beer cans, oddly enough. Started it when I was 8 or so.

I had a lot of cool toys, but nothing much that I collected. American Bricks I had (and still have) a collection of (kinda like Legos). My childhood was in the 70's, so I am from a different era. I had a lot of GI Joe stuff (the older BIG ones, not the smaller ones of today). It always bothered me that no matter the race or the hair color of my GI Joe, they all had that same scar on their face.

I now buy the toys that I never had enough of. I have a slot car track with 20 or so cars and millions of feet of track (had to customize the power because of the track length). That thing pulls the old men in my neighborhood out of the woodwork!

FH, I'm thouroughly convinced you and I are long lost brothers!

I was all about the Mego 8" Superhero dolls. Man, I had them ALL...Superman, Spiderman, Shazam (about 4 times), the Hulk, Batman, Iron Man, Thor, Cap, Aquaman, Falcon, Green Arrow, Robin, Flash, The Human Torch...dude, that was my thing!

I also had a couple of the Shogun Warriors (Great Mazinga was my fave) and a bunch of GIJoe guys when I was real young. Anyone remember GIJoe with that rubber grip? Or how about "Bulletman - the Human Bullet"??

Star Wars toys out the ying yang, Verti-birds (the helicopter that circled around and around in a circle as you lay on the ground), SST's, Hot Wheels & Matchbox cars, Tonka trucks and who knows what else.

    This is a GREAT topic!!

Oh yeah...I also had a Joker doll.

Purple suit w/white face and green hair.

This was like 1975-ish too. LONG before the Jack Nicholson version came along.

I also had a few Batmobiles and a "Space 1999" space ship.

my cousin and i are a year apart, and we had identical piles of the same stuff...

GI Joe, the REAL ones, with kung-fu grip (Jeeps with howitzers, helicopters, submarines, 6-wheeled ATV's), Big Jim stuff (slightly smaller than the GI Joes, but just as much stuff, campers, motorcycles, boats), every piece of Evel Knievel gear (regular bike, chopper, dune buggy, Snake River Canyon rocket, dragster, and the tour truck), our train sets, his was a Lionel, i still have some of the HO stuff from then...and this was all before the Star Wars and Micronauts stuff came out. my brother and i got "SWAT" and "Emergency!" vehicles and figures (same size as the Meco superheroes) one Christmas...you name it, it passed through our house. once the video game craze hit, that's where we were...

I use to have some of the old Evil Knevil toys when I was really young. My mother gave them away when I moved out of the house. That's still a somewhat of a sore spot when brought up from time to time. Out.
