Jump the Shark: This phrase was coined by the creator of www.jumptheshark.com when he felt a particular TV show would hit it's peak creatively and would go downhill. (The phrase "jump the shark" came from a "Happy Days" episode that had Fonzie jumping a pool with a shark in it for a season-ending cliffhanger episode.) What are some things that have jumped the shark for you in TV shows, movies, sports, toys, comics, etc.?
There's a thread in music for this particular topic for band-related "jumps"!

    For me:

When Larry David left "Seinfeld", "The Phantom Menace", When LEGO decided to make "themed" legos such as Star Wars, etc. (I'd rather "bomb" with my own original Lego creations than with "covering" somebody elses! ), New Coke, Spider-man's clone was the Spider-man I had read for 15 years, Rollingstone magazine circa 1990 to the present, Matt Groenig "whored" out the Simpsons to the point that you can now buy Krusty the Clown soap-on-a-rope, I'm sure I can think of more!

I was trying to include our VH boys failed reunion with MTV in 1996, but the rest is so true. How about that hyped Domino's pizza campaign with that sock puppet a few years back? Or Suzanne Somers feud with Three's Company?

How about Patrick Duffy leaving Dallas and then coming back a year later making the previous season Pam's "dream"?

To me The Simpsons were never "whored out", because even after the show was on the air for a few months in 1990 you couldn't go 500 feet without seeing Simpsons t-shirts, dolls, and other collectables and merchandise for sale.

The Dukes of Hazzard - When Bo (John Schneider) and Luke (Tom Wopat) left the show for about 13 episodes in a contract dispute the "powers that be" substituted their cousins Coy and Vance. That, my friends, is an ender.

Man, once you start thinking all sorts of things come to mind. MC Hammer dropping the MC from his name. Vanilla Ice's feature film career. Laverne and Shirley's cast moving to Hollywood. That TV show "Cop Rock". David Caruso leaving NYPD Blue for an illustrious film career. Shelley Long doing the same on Cheers. Jeep quitting making the jeep only to re-name it The Wrangler. Michael Jordan retiring from basketball.

Thinking of Three's Company: "The Ropers" left to have their own show and Jack got married, thus changing the name of the show to "Three's a Crowd"!

When "Pebbles and Bam-Bam" grew up and "The Great Gazoo" was a new character on "The Flintstones".

When "Scrappy Doo" and "Scooby Dumb" were introduced on "Scooby Doo".

"The Smurfs" were introduced to Saturday Morning Television.
