Legendary and award winning sports writer Will McDonough passed away last night of a heart attack.
He attended every Superbowl and won many awards and was the only sports writer to have been nominated for a Pulitzer Prize.
He wrote for the Boston Globe and was also an analyst on several sports shows. As well as a frequent member on "Sports Final" on Sunday nights on my channel.
He was a class act who was never afraid to voice his opinion.

Terrible news. I allways enjoyed listening to his reports on the NFL.
From 3-13 to 10-6 and NFC South Champs.....go Saints!

Damn, that sucks. Used to love to read his columns in the Boston Globe.

First, that sucks, I was shocked when I heard that this morning.

Second, I couldn't stand the guy's work. I just don't like his kind of reporting, at least the way he's done it recently. I don't like the way he hammered Kraft in the Parcells/Kraft fued, I don't like the way he hammered Lucchino. In both cases he had some facts that were just wrong. Granted, there were parts of what he said that had merit, but I always, always, questioned his objectivity. I always wondered if he was exaggerating something because he had an ax to grind. Tough to respect what a journalist writes when you question his/her motives.

I always saw him, professionally, as an arrogant ass who felt he was part of the story, and ultimately got lazy with his facts. But that's not to say he wasn't a good guy, didn't know him.

    Still sucks that he died.
