So I'm at the Padres-Cubs game tonight. The National Anthem is about to start and I see about 5 guys in the stands with there fucking hats still on! Where did the respect go? These aren't punks ass kids, these are grown men that should know better. Take the hat off and show some respect for your nation, and show respect for the man that die so you can go to a fucking baseball game!

Sorry, I just had to get that off of my chest.

Even little kids know to do that, and to put their right hand over their heart. Some people take far too much for granted.

You ought to see/hear how kids handle the Pledge of Allegiance in school nowadays.

"I pledge allegiance to eighth-ounce bags, of the United States of America.

And to the Ritalin, for which I stand.

    One nation, snort when ground.

Indivisible, with liberty of drug-things, for all."

Seventh graders say this as their version of the Pledge. And they refuse to remove their hats; their parents argued that the kids can 'concentrate better on their studies if they don't have to worry about doing their hair'. Of course, if that were true, then break out the fucking clippers and shave their skulls bald. I imagine it's the same sort of parents that were at the game.

When I went to a Giants game at Pac Bell last month I was shocked to see how many people didn't take their caps off during the national anthem. To think, they have the privilege to see a major league game and they can't even show some respect.

Is it asking too much of people to take their hats off during the national anthem?

Damn. Next thing you know, they won't even know the words to it.

Uh yeah, that's right... They don't...

The fact of the matter is that with today's kids and the lack of parental teachings, there is no respect for anything or anyone nowadays. There is no thought given to what it means to live in a country like the USA. There is no thought given to the people that made the country what it is today...no thought to decency, morals and being just a considerate and respectful person.

It's all gimme gimme gimme and mine mine mine. This place would be a lot nicer if people just tried to live the golden rule...sorry for standing on my soapbox, but I saw this type of disrespect at a Cardinals game recently. I'm like...what the heck is your problem, Ace? Take your hat off and show some respect!

Bro, even some of the people they hire to sing the National Anthem don't know the words. What a shame.

Great post bro. You know in San Diego they say "Please rise and remove your caps for tonights National Anthem" and people STILL ignore this. Hell, if you aren't gonna take the cap off don't even bother standing you jackass. Just sit there so people can see you for the commie that you are!

Frankly the general vibe from the society of the US is so negative now, we breed such contempt for anything, that I am not surprised in the least people don't take their hats off at the playing of then National Anthem. Pretty sad.

You know that is a sad disrespectful fact, but to be honest with you i think the people in the US still show more respect to their National Anthem then in other countries...

Being Serbian i was able to go back to the old country a year ago to watch a soccer game there...the National Anthem they have there is still the one from the former Yugoslavia...everyone hates it, no one stands for it and people even boo and hiss at it...Strangely the same thing happened when i went to Germany and Spain...people were booing or talking or not paying any attention or respect for their National Anthem...kind of surprising that this stuff is happening, seems like people have started to lose their Nationalism worldwide...must be all that globalization shit huh?

Well anyway i don't think the US is too bad yet, in fact some people in these countries i've mentioned and probably throughout the world could learn a thing or two about respect when it comes to honoring people who have died fighting for their freedoms

little known fact...did you know your not supposed to clap after the National Anthem has been played/sung...it is actually considered disrespectful...the clapping that does happen symbolizes the start of a ballgame or clapping for a job well done, but not for the song
