I'm thinking of ordering some stuff from Columbia House, but I've never used my visa card online. Should I? Anybody use their credit card online, and if so, any troubles, horror stories etc?

    Thanks.

As long as you're transferring over a secure connection, you should have no problem.

I've never had any troubles ordering stuff through the internet. I try to do most of my Christmas shopping that way, and early as possible might I add. You really shouldn't have any problems. Out.

I've been buying stuff online for a long time now, Glenn. Never had a problem. I'm no more concerned about using my CC online than I am about a store clerk having my account number and signature.

You know the connection is secure by checking the status line at the bottom of your browser. Most browsers will have a little yellow lock to indicate that they're working in a secure mode. Most online stores aren't secure until you're finalizing the transaction, meaning that while you shop you won't see it. Once you begin to check out it should light up.

I usually buy things only from stores I'm somewhat familiar with. There used to be a lot of fly by night sort of operations, although they seem to be on the outs finally. Most online stores will have customer-service numbers you can call if you have a problem. Some of them like BN.com and Amazon (I think) allow you to order online and call them with your CC number if you're concerned.

I've had nothing but good experiences shopping online. I save money on most things I buy, in part because there isn't often a sales tax. I ordered something from England a while ago because the Pound was so weak compared to the USD. Showed up just fine, and I saved a good chunch of change because of the exchange rate being in my favor.

Online shopping kicks ass! The only problem is I buy far more stuff than I used to.

that Columbia house REALLY doesnt give you all those things for a penny

They getcha with the shipping and handling man. No shit, they will charge you about 5 bucks per cd. Not sure what that is in canadian, but it equates to a rip no matter what.

Also, on most secured sites, instead of (in the beggining of the address in your browsers address bar) http, it should say https:// whatever.com.......I'm pretty sure at least. Been a while since I've bought something online.

    You're safe.
CHICAGO WHITE SOX - 2005 WORLD CHAMPIONS

The Chicago White Sox (1901-present) - The Original SOX - Proof

    The Boston Americans (1901)
    The Boston Somersets (1902)
    The Boston Pilgrims (1903-1906)
The Boston Red Sox (1907-present) - Proof

The Pilgrims/Americans/Somersets whatever you want to call them, have NEVER displayed "SOX" anywhere on their caps, jerseys, or merchandise, therefore they shouldn't be referred to as such. However, the White Sox have used "SOX" since 1912.

The SOX are in Chicago...we just allow the Pilgrims/Americans/Somersets to use the name.

Think of it this way. How many times have you been at a restaurant and you give the waiter or waitress your credit card. And they walk into another room with it.

I wouldn't worry about it too much.

It actually does work out to be way cheaper (the shipping is $1.69/disc here in Canada, plus it's a Canadian Columbia House site, so there's no US conversion situation), as long as you buy stuff you actually want. I remember ordering cassettes through Columbia House when I was a teenager, and I was so excited when they arrived. Then I opened the box and couldn't figure out why I'd bought most of it.
