xBox is now $50.00 cheaper than PS2. Which do you like better and why?

Are the graphics comparable? Are there a decent amount of games for xBox?

    Thanks in advance.

I have the PS2 and Xbox, my wife Gamecube. Xbox and PS2 are both $199 now. GC dropped yesterday to $149. All three have there advantages. If I had to rank them it would be xbox,ps2, and gc.

Xbox because it has a 8 gig hardrive (no need for memory cards), built in broadband adapter, dvd player (you need the $20 remote to activate though) and overall better graphics. Most importantly it has the games coming that have my attention. Xbox Live (online) will be $50 a year, IMO not bad for an online gaming service.

PS2 has the most games and nearly every developer producing games for it. Dvd player right out of the box. The drawbacks, worst graphics out of the three (although still good) and internet and hardrive are extra. (rumor has it $100-$150 extra)

Gamecube, cheapest of the three and has famous first party games (mario, zelda, etc). Drawbacks, no dvd player,Nintendo takes forever to release their big name games, and some gamers and developers view the system as being targeted to younger age groups. (amazing how games go from being fun to needing to be "mature".)

Anyways decide on the system that has the games YOU are most interested in.

So xBox is better, but doesn't have as many games as PS2. That's a BIG drawback.

    **EDIT**

I see EA sports does make xBox games, but not TW2002. Another drawback.

I really like my PS2. I get edgey when it comes to Microsoft stuff. Sure it's packaged nice and the graphics are a little better, but what happens in the future? I just have a funny feeling Gates will pull some shit with this just as he has done in the past with Windows and Explorer.

Yup. That's as good of reason to avoid it as any other.

I'm definately leaning towards the PS2. No Tiger Woods Golf 2002 being a major reason.

I'm thinking of buying one off of Ebay, but I'm scared it'll be broken. Maybe I should just bite the bullet and go to Best Buy?

$200 for a new PS2 is a no-brainer, especially if you also could use a new CD/DVD player. let someone else get the beaters on Ebay...

Well then there's the $30.00 memory card I have to buy as well. Luckily I know my PS1 controllers work on PS2 so I don't need another one of those. Then I want TWG 2002. That's another $45.00.

You're talking around $275.00 + 5.6% sales tax. $290.00 total. And my DVD player works fine.

    Not chicken feed here.

and a week and a half ago you were looking at $375 for all that. everybody wants somethin' for nothin'... (just yankin' yo chain...)

we have a ton of used game stores around here, wait a couple weeks, and the new games usually show up. worked good for GTA 3 when all the do-gooder parents made their kids get rid of it...

Until the $100.00 price reduction went into effect, a PS2 was out of the question in this house.

I should check into finding some local game resale shops though. That's a good idea.

If you buy the stuff on the internet you can usually avoid the sales tax, and sometimes find a pretty sweet deal too.

Then you have to pay shipping though. Although if the deal is sweet enough that can make up for it.

I've only seen the PS2 less than $199.95 on Ebay. Know of any other places to look Mike?

I'm still sticking to my guns with my GameCube. There's a bunch of cool games coming out that were previewed at E3 this week!

My loyalty falls on the side of the PS2 and the GameCube.

Screw Microsuck's machine. If I want a huge library, I can find it all at about $10 less a game on the PS2. If I want very specific, mascout-oriented games I know will be fun, I can find those on the GameCube, and that system costs $50 less.

My Electronics Botique had used PS2 for $159.99 the other day. Pretty decent deal. If Sony drops the thing another $50 I may have to break down and get one.
