Yeah, I watched it. Am I an idiot (specifically for watching it, not generally speaking for watching it?

    I'm missing something here.

no Glenn, you're not an idiot

    The writers are, though

I missed the show, but have had dozens of emails/phone calls about that show.

Anthony Edwards is on the board of the CAN Foundation, and evidently, he wouldn't participate in that segment. There is a huge controversy about
vaccines causing autism, and the mother of the child that "died" of measles was "scorned" because she wouldn't have her child vaccinated for fear of bringing on autism.
I imagine they will change their tune in the near future....it's close to an epidemic
today, which means they'll have to experience it first hand. Maybe they'll have some compassion for parents instead of scorn.

I just wish for, once, they would educate people with "real knowledge" instead of ignorance.

    I needed to vent...sorry

I thought the writers were idiots because they have virtually all the staff members paired off in relationships.

Anyway, pardon the question but what is CAN?

You're saying that vaccines can actually cause autism and therefore they had no right to play that mother as a bad mother due to not having her child vaccinated?

BTW, my take on it was that Carter was really the only one who was strongly judging her.

Anyway, I have opinions on the matter
My son's pediatrician go round and round on the issue. He does agree that the MMR and the "p" in the DPT may cause autism.
There was show on 60minutes a few months back
at an autism conference. Everyone who thought
that their childs autism was brought on by vaccines were supposed to stand up. Probably 90% did stand up. There was a Dr. from England who talked about the research he had done on vaccines/autism. It must have made an impact on a lot of families, because my son's doctor told me parents of "typical" kids weren't being vaccinated due to the show.
I've done enough research, and I believe to inject anymore live viruses to my sons brain
would be crazy on my part.
That's just my opinion, of course.
It is ironic that many other parents with kids with autism share my opinion.

In todays world, they give close to 40 vaccines by the time a child is 3. Probably 3x as many as you or I had. Let's just pollute their body and deal with the consequences later

BTW, I did get a call from a lady about 6 months ago, from the National Vaccine Compensation Organization about a child in our area. He is 7 yrs old, a millionaire and will never know it, because he is now severely brain-damaged due to vaccines.
Why have that kind of organization if it's not needed?

Oh well, just my rant for the day

I knew Carrie was a lezbo from the very beginning

But seriously, the government is on total damage control with this issue. As harsh as it may seem, they would rather have some people develop autism then a total outbreak of measles and small pox.

    Angel4U,

Is your son school-age? If so, do they let him attend without the immunizations?

Just wondering since I had to show proof of immunizations when I enrolled my daughter in Kindergarten. Maybe they have some kind of waiver that you sign??

My son is in kindergarten, also.
Well, the school tried to use scare tactics to get me to vaccinate him, but I'm probably more educated in the education laws than most, so I knew what to do. First of all, his doctor had to sign a form saying "mother refuses further vaccines due to the risk of
*worsening* autism. He has been vaccinated in the past, and if I had his titers checked, it would probably show that he was still immune. This is for any parent to decide. All kids are entitled to education, and they can not refuse to educate a child based on not being vaccinatedSeenbad still got an education
The religious reason is also another one, as aborted fetuses are used to produce the vaccine.
I just came across a study, which would be quite boring to most, however in the U.K. a study showed that 1 in 175 children are autistic . I think California says in the U.S. it's 1 in 400.
Some say the increase happened when the *combined* the MMR vaccine.

When things are on T.V./movie about autism
I cringe. The writers aren't living the reality. Shows like 60 minutes or 20/20
do a better job of showing the reality

Thanks for the info. I never really thought about it either way...until the show and your comments. Pretty scary stuff. My daughter is immunized and luckily all is well.

I also didn't know that there were ways around the school immunizations either...

Ya know, I never had my immunizations as a child (military fixed that shit RIGHT up though). My mother, bless her heart was up on this stuff in the early seventies and wouldnt allow them to give them to me. When Kindergarten came along, she just said "for religious reasons" when asked why I havn't had my shots and they couldnt touch us.

I have a 3 year old. It was a VERY tough decision to have her get her shots, but we decided to do it. VERY tough decision though.

then am i to assume that autism didnt exist until vaccines were introduced? and is autism a chemical imbalance, damaged region or just genetic brain disorder? i always thought doctors have no idea of what causes autisim or whats goin on in the brain of an autistic child...although i read my sisters autism term paper when i was like 12 and there was some bizzare shit goin on with autistic children....just wild pictures and actual music notes drawn with feces.....when the kids had no musical training or art teaching.....very wild stuff. ok sorry for rambling.
