Who else is looking forward to this year's Masters? When I was younger I could never understand how my father could sit and watch golf all weekend. I never used to be able to do it and I still can't on most weekends, but there is something about the Masters that is gripping and makes you want to watch as much of the action as you can. Tiger will be going for his fourth Major in a row which will make this year's Masters all the more exciting if he is in the hunt on Sat. and Sun. Personally I hope this is the year for the SHARK, Greg Norman. He has had so many dissappointments at the Masters and I would like to see him finally reach his goal and win a green jacket. I can't wait for thursday.

I love the Masters, cant wait for Thursday. I just cant see the Shark(choke choke) doing much of anything this year, sad to say but me thinks his years of being a contender are over. Norman is and was a great player and did so much for the game.

My money goes on VJ or Tiger (yea I know the safe bet). I heard that Duval is having wrist problems and had to get a cortizone shot, however I wouldnt count him out.

All in all it should be a great tournament as always.

Panama Dog, I totally understand where you're coming from. I used to ask my parents virtually every weekend, "how can you sit and watch golf?" Now I'm always checking it out on the weekends.

The Masters should be cool, go Mike Weir!

Now THIS is a good topic

I was a golf pro for about 4 years a while back. I cant even tell you what this tournament means to me (coming on in 10 mins!!)

The whole thing just permiates History, legend, greatness, hero's etc etc. Mr. Jones would be sooo happy to see how it has all transpired over the years.

I'm betting on Tiger this year of course, but I would LOVE to see Norman give it another run. And he has actually been playing pretty well this year. hmmm. And Calcavechia ALWAYS has a shot. Dont count him out at all. He finished in the top 10 a couple years ago, so he has game there. Mickleson will place this year, as will Singh. Mike Weir is highly under rated and another to watch out for.

    I cant wait!!

Sad side note- Last year that ol'e "Iron Byron" will take the tee to start it off.

Quick question: If Tiger wins the Masters and holds all four major title at one time is it the grand slam even though it would not have been won all in one year?

My answer: No, if Arnold Palmer says no then I say no, because he has been around golf much longer than I have been alive and knows a ton more about the game than I or anyone else for that matter.

Well, that does seem to be the question of the week now doesnt it?

I say no as well. Tiger says yes and is defiantely going against what the masters of the game (Arnie, Jack, Byron) are saying. I think its a highly arrogant thing to proclaim coming from a(albiet good )youngster when the men who have made the sport what it is are saying the opposite. Tiger has been pretty good at playing the line of good etiquette in golf, but is over the line in this case.....the little prick

A Grand Slam is all four majors in one year of golf.

I didn't realize that Tiger himself had said that if he was to win it would constitute a Grand Slam. Gotta totally disagree with him on that one; it's very odd that he would come out and proclaim that. You'd think he'd be smart enough to keep that to himself, especially until he actually wins this tournament (not saying he will of course, but I wouldn't bet against him ).

How cool was it to see Nelson and Snead teeing off today? Damn, that's a sport that knows and reveres it's history. I was laughing to myself when they were teeing off that even at their ages, they could kick my ass all over any course.

I think I could take em'

But yeah, thats not the point and your right, Golf is still true to the foundations it was built upon. That goes even outside of the tour itself. The course that I was a pro at, all the members were truly loyal to the tradition and history and had developed a deep appreciation or else they were not members. We held a U.S. Womens Open and the 1996 U.S. Amateur (that Tiger won) due to the fact that the USGA had recongnized those principles and rewarded them. Its still good from the top down on tour and probably always will be too. Not quite like NBA or NFL.

Well, Tiger is in the hunt for another major, Shocker, but I am sad my man Greg Norman will be at home for the final two rounds of the Masters after shooting his worst score at Agusta in his career an 82. this after he shot a respectable 71 on day one and was in the mix. Oh well, maybe next year Greg.

I dont expect much from DiMarco tomorrow. At some point he will have to realize just exactly where he is at and who he is competing against. I would imagine its going to be on the first hole when he hits his second shot from about 60 yards behind Tiger.

Greens should be pretty damn firm by the afternoon, making it just that much more trecherously fast.

Watch out for Tiger, Janzen, Mickleson, Calcaveccia, and Duval for Moving day.

    I love this shit.

I agree with Seenbad, at some point DiMarco will fold under the pressure. The greens at the Masters are known for being fast and hard. Tiger said today that the greens have been pretty forgiving and they should get fast and hard on Saturday. Players wont be able to get away with as much.
