oK guys when my cd burner burns things off of another cd it turns out either all crackly, or like a real skippy sound (like somone is pressing the fast forward at some points in the song). I think it has something to do with the recording process because when I burn someting off Napster it turns out perfect. There are a couple free bootlegs in it for anyone who can fix my problem. Thanks alot.

Sounds like a "bit rate error" to me.

Try burning the CD at a slower rate. 4x is usually a good one.

Yeah, it's a pain in the ass that it takes longer, but less chance of the quality being compromised on the CD.

Sounds like something's going wrong in the ripping of the actual CD. Check your CD ripper software's settings.

This is why it works fine on Napster, because those MP3 tracks are already ripped.

Use Maxell, burn at 4x, and close most everything in your start center. Especially if you have Norton anti-virus. It's noisy. I had that problem one time and I closed everything. No more problems after that.

Ok I tried all of your suggestions, and nothing works. I know it is something with the ripping process. I'll try a few mor things (if any of you have any more suggestions please make them) and I might just get one of those cd-rom cleaner things.

I've heard that when copying a CD it helps to put it on your hard drive first and burn it from there, rather than CD-Rom to CD-Rom.
