O.K. it's almost Halloween. I am not the biggest fan of this day or being scared or watching scary movies for that matter. I do like "Dirty Movies" however, but that's for another topic. All I am going to say is that if there is a scarier movie than the first Halloween then I am not going to see that one because Halloween scares the begezzes out of me every time I try to watch it. Notice that I said try. I usually can't make it through, that music just freaks me out and that Michael Myers is a crazy motherfucker! Agreed. Michael Meyers kicks total ass dude. I think Halloween and The Exorcist are pretty killer. They scared the crap out of me as a kid. I tell you what, they are both pretty intense to this day especially on DVD with DTS.

The halloween's pretty much do it for me. Michael Myers is kinda the Halloween icon, I love the halloween movie series. Exorcist was pretty good too.

The first Halloween movie is a classic. Think about it, there really is not much blood or totally gory murder scenes.

But much of the movie takes place at night and the music is totally bone chilling!

I remember I used to watch Halloween at night with all the lights off.

This is the scariest movie of all time.

The music from "The Amityville Horror" freaks the goosebumps right off of me.

I used to think that Blair Witch had a lot of potential until everyone started blabbing about the ending and it being fake. Too bad...even if it was still a "fake" movie, I think it could have been one killer flick.

Oh man, the first Halloween is by far my favorite. 20 years later and it still gives me the willies (shudder). Not a lot of gratuitous blood and gore, just a good, scary vibe throughout, especially with the eyes-looking-out-of-the-mask point of view and the breathing you hear inside the mask.

I LOVE a good scary movie:

Exorcist
The Shining
John Carpenter's The Thing
Alien
Silence of the Lambs
Texas Chainsaw Massacre (almost more funny than scary)

The very first "Nightmare on Elm Street" creeped me out pretty good. I was living on Elm St. at the time so it was like....

Yeah, looking back now, it's cool but at the time I was pissing myself. I developed a sleep disorder like you read about.

Now is there a difference between scary and suspense?

Cause then yeah, Alien and Aliens are among the most suspenseful movies ever. But I wouldn't say they are scary. Scary to me is creeped out shit like Clive Barker, or Hellraiser, or Eraserhead. Grotesque type stuff that takes a twisted mind to come up with.

Suspense to me is much more of a craft. It's infinitly more difficult to create tension in the audience than it is to jump out from behind something and yell boo! Alfred Hitchcock understood this paradox all too well.
