I have to say that this is a bad idea. The Doors music is timeless, and if they wanted to do this with Ray singing, or just as instrumentals I could see it. But putting someone in Jims' spot isn't a good idea.

If I had to pick one man for the job,it would absolutely have to be Eddie Vedder!

He's the closest thing to Jim Morrison. Listen to the first few Pearl Jam records and you'll see what I mean.

You can vote for a frontman to take the place of Jim!

I voted for David Lee Roth

    Hope this doesn't happen

How about Iggy Pop? Didn't they do a bit of jamming with Iggy in the early 70's with the intention of continuing as the Doors?

They'll never make it to the first show. What a completely fucking ridiculous idea.

You all may be surprised at how good this could end up being...

I saw Robby Krieger and Friends on tour last year (Robby was the guitarist for The Doors, for those who don't know). They had a guy by the name of Berry Oakley Jr. singing( he is the son of the legendary Allman Bro's. bassist who was killed in a motorcycle wreck a year after Duane Allman, almost in the same spot).

Anyway, this guy sang several Doors tunes (and played bass) with Robby and others playing, and I'm telling you, he sang the songs so well, it was chilling! They actually did "The End" in concert, and he had it all down. It was amazing... Plus, the girls in the audience were going fucking nuts for this guy (he's probably around 25-30 - not a pretty boy but a real rocker). It was a great show...

Hey, Jim Morrison is dead - but the remaining members are still alive, and there is no reason for them to not play the songs that they helped create, especially if they can find someone who can sing them properly (like this guy can).

One thing I won't want to see, though, is someone trying to ACT like JM on stage - just sing the songs, put alot of feeling and soul into them, but leave the trippy stage antics alone.

Thank you, thank you very much...

Disagree. Not a good idea. This is gonna suck big time. People are going to go to try to catch a piece of the doors magic not Krieger & co. That magic is six ft down in Paris somewhere. Gonna be a bomb.

Ok - that's your opinion, and that's cool. Sorry if I wasted your time with my ramblings...

I felt (and still feel) the same way about any "replacement" singers in Van Halen, and that includes Hagar (who, after all, was a REPLACEMENT for David Lee Roth - the only difference is Dave's not dead ), so I guess I can't blame you for feeling that way. I stayed home for most of the Van Hagar shows, and I can't say that I regret it one bit. The magic was just not there...

A year or two ago, there was this group going around calling themselves "The Son of the Lizard"...something like that. Anyway, supposedly, the lead singer was the love child of Jim Morrison.

For those of you who live in Phoenix, you might remember this. Carol Springer (KDKB), brought it up on the air and played a song from their CD (which I think someone sent to her anonymously - don't quote me). I swear to you, that this guy sounded EXACTLY like Jim.

Carol mentioned before she played the song, how eerie it was that even the picture of this guy on the CD looked just like Jim. I don't know whatever happened to this band....

...anyway, back to the topic. If this guy was real, it would be pretty cool to have Jim's love child as the lead singer.

Other than that, I don't know if it would be such a good idea. Eddie Vedder would be a good choice for vocals, but, calling them the Doors? No - don't like it.

How 'bout Diana Ross - I hear her latest "reunion" tour didn't work out - maybe she can approach it from a different angle! Seriously though, hopefully none of the people that are saying they shouldn't do it are people who can't understand why some of us won't accept Van Halen with anyone but David Lee Roth.

If they try it at all (and I still think it's a bad idea).. they should call Glenn Danzig. He's the closest to Morrison I've heard.
