Okay, who else here in the 80's caved into fashon and shopped there?

I owned a vinal Micheal Jackson "Beat It" ripp-off jacket and a yellow parachute pants and a ref Member's Only jacket. The place was always packed so there must be other fogies on this board with some incriminating stuff in the closet.

    don't even get me started...

too funny you bring this up today. i was cleaning out some stuff last week, and found a jacket and pants i bought there, that i wore to my prom. nice wool pants and jacket...i was definitely much more of a "clothes horse" back then, than i am now. i don't know how i walked a mile and a half to school in those pointy-ass shoes...

Hell Yeah, man. Chess King and Merry Go Round. I was a skinny tie guy, and had a Grey Michael Jackson jacket too. Parachute pants and fake leather too.

Funny story about that jacket actually. I was looking on ebay for 80's stuff one night when I was bored a few weeks ago. I see this jacket come up and I totally freaked when I saw it, because it looked just like the one I had. Well, I start reading the description and it says "in great condition - only damage is a small tear in the inner lining; probably was somebody's stash pocket..lol". Now, call me crazy, but I think it was my fucking jacket. I had a tear just like that which my friends used to kid around about just like that - "Beav's stash space" (The Beaver was my nickname in HS. That's a whole other story. ). Now that's just too coinkydinkish for me. I think my jacket made it across the country and ended up on ebay. I love this country.

I can proudly say I avoided Members Only and parachute pants like the plague...

I did get caught up in the bolo tie thing:shudder:

How about Pier Connection? Anybody remember those fake military-style shirts? I remember everybody was always scrambling to get the "cool" colors. LOL

Damn, man. The shit we wore and thought we were cool with. Check out the ol' "Gasoline" jeans I had on in this shot. Not to mention the shoes. My buds called 'em my "pimp shoes". BWAHAHAHAHHAHAA!!!

The yellow parachute pants went well with a pair of red knee pads..rock on dude!

The inside pocket on my jacket tore too, I spent an hour looking for my wallet until I discovered it had slipped inside the lining of my jacket.

I had the same shirt Wolfman. That's when I discovered chicks like to play with snaps and zippers.

My little brother bought a real shitty MJ jacket back inthe day. I kidded him about it the day he got it. I found that jacket years later in a storage box. It had started to melt into a sticky oily mess! It was turning into toxic waste...lmao!!!!

I grew up in a little hick town. Parachute pants would have ass whipping written all over them in that town. The checkered vans however were crucial of course. I went as far as to have a pair of customs made for like an extra ten bucks through a catalouge. People were taken back and they made quite the stir.

The Zcavv's as pabby mentioned were also key for a while, a little later though, around 86, 7, and 8. But...worn with anything other than faded 501's constituted almost immediate pain. Drakkar cologne, Zcavaricci's, faded 501's, custom vans, an earing, and a tail (remember those?) were the keys to enormous odds at getting some good poontahka on a friday night.

I was a Madonna Wannabe... I'll get Wolf to host a pic for me to post!

Hey Pabs... I was friends with Cavaricci when he was justa student at Brooks college. His jeans are still popular!

Oh God, The Chess King? It was not at all popular here. I was more of the preppy jock type I guess. I had to have Ralph Lauren Polo everything when I was a teenager. Or Banana Republic was cool before it became Gap-like. Does that store(Banana Republic) even exist anymore?

The Banana Republic is identical to the GAP.

Now see Vans are a whole different thing all together. The surfer/skateboarder/pothead crowd wore those. The cool people bought the plain white ones and decorated them with feltpens.

I'm not suprised about the jackey melting, I think that's how they stayed in business so long because none of my old Chess Kings stuff survived and it's not because I gave them away, who the hell would want them? Well, I still have a black waiste coat with the foam shoulder pads made from polished cotton and a sport jacket that has blue and white verticle stripes that I'd wear when I played gigs. A few years ago an old girlfriend saw it in my closet and thought that I was a sales-rep for Pepsi.
