Hey yo.. it survey time...what do you think is the best home arcade/video game system. my thinking is that is the atari 2600 because of how long the phyiscal console unit last (mine got to be 15 or older and still works) plus the gmaes were so addictive and if atari never got popular you would never have game boy, game gear, nintendo or playstation suckas! i also think sega genesis is for being smart enough to not force users to buy all new systems. i loved the fact that you could upgrade and customize. the nintendo had some classics that are still played. what about the Satrun, jaguar, Super nintendo, Nintendo 64, playstation, playstation 2, x-box, game boy, game boy color, game boy advanced, collecovision, intellivison and others. i would be interested in seeing what is the all time favortie of van halen fans all over the world.

I think when history looks back in 20 years the best will probably be the Playstation, but my favorite of all time has to be the nintendo 64. The Atari 2600 is almost like the Holy Grail of game systems.......

I really liked my Atari 5200 but the fire buttons on the joystick had no durability. A few years ago I learned the trick for fixing them, but I haven't bothered to drag it out of storage to try.

For me personally, at one time life didn't get better than a Madden tournament with a couple of friends and my Sega Genesis...

I'd have to go with the Atari 2600 as my favorite of all time! With the vast game library I have from it and the original NES, they'd be my top two!

If I was a betting man, I'd wager that either the NES or Gameboy Advance would win that one down the line.

I guess some of us are showing our age, but yeah, the Atari 2600 has to be at least the Grand Poobah of game systems as far as historical significance is concerned. Yeah, compared to now, the graphics were simple but the games were addictive and still are. And like Hulkamaniac, I have a system that still works, as well as many games. My kids laugh at it, but hey, brings back good memories.
I know I'm getting old when my 4-year old can kick my ass in one of the new Playstation 2 games because he knows how to use all the buttons...I'm one of those old-school one joystick-one button type person.
BTW, if you look around the web, there are sites where you can get emulators and ROMs of the old Atari and arcade games, which allow you to play them on your computer. I've been using a program called MacMAME (MAME for you PC folk)which runs all the old arcade games, if you can find them, since companies have started selling the old games again. Helps make up for all the countless quarters I spent in my youth.......

I'm getting a little long in the tooth as well, and I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for my old Atari, with the Defender cartridge I must've wasted at least a full year of my life on.

As for today, though... I just built my dream-rig PC. Athlon XP2000+, Asus Geforce 4 ti4600 (accept no substitute!), Soyo K7V Dragon+ mobo w/1 gig of Mushkin CAS2 hi-pro DDR2100, 19" Viewsonic P95f (92hz @ 1600 x 1200!), SB Audigy Platinum w/Klipsch 500w 5.1s (which I'm also using as my home theater setup... Klipsch RULES), & 2 120gig Western Digital hdds in a striped RAID:0 array (ya just gotta love a 230gig C: drive that reads like lightning!). Needless to say, I'm quite happy with how it games, too! (can't wait for the next LAN party... lookout suckers! BWAAAHAHAHAHA!!!) I haven't even tried overclocking anything yet, and I STILL scored a 9559 on 3Dmark 2001!

I have messed around on a buddy's Xbox quite a bit, though, and if I were going the console route, that would be my choice hands-down, it's pretty schweet.

I like Super Nintendo the best, NES is my second favorite.

I don't play the new systems, I grew out of video games I guess.

If we're talking legacy then it's gotta be the Atari 2600 easily. It made home game consoles popular. The Eddie Van Halen of game consoles if you will.

If we're talking shear power, the Xbox is the king.

I have the original Atari (maybe 2600 - gotta check the box) in its original box SEALED and never played.

My grandmother bought it for my sister and me when we were babies and my dad never set it up because we were too young to handle it. So he just put it in a crawl space in the basement.

By the time we were old enough, my friend's dad got a brand new Nintendo for free from someone he knew. This was back in 86 when NES first came out, so who wanted an Atari???? I forgot about it at that point.

My brother-in-law found it about 6 months ago and fucking stole it. It's now at his house. The thing in it's condition and state is probably worth a ton too. I'm gonna go over and take it back.

CHICAGO WHITE SOX - 2005 WORLD CHAMPIONS

The Chicago White Sox (1901-present) - The Original SOX - Proof

The Boston Americans (1901)
The Boston Somersets (1902)
The Boston Pilgrims (1903-1906)
The Boston Red Sox (1907-present) - Proof

The Pilgrims/Americans/Somersets whatever you want to call them, have NEVER displayed "SOX" anywhere on their caps, jerseys, or merchandise, therefore they shouldn't be referred to as such. However, the White Sox have used "SOX" since 1912.

The SOX are in Chicago...we just allow the Pilgrims/Americans/Somersets to use the name.
