    How does it work?
    What kind do you recommend?
Can it be downloaded (ironically) for free?
    Thanks!

Copying DVD's is a tricky process. Most, if not all, are encoded. The MPAA has sued left and right to keep this information off the internet. Check out www.2600.com they used to have their information about the MPAA suing them on their site.

Anyway, there is free software out there, you just have to look. If you had a DVD burner, all you need is one program, and a DVD burning software. If you don't have a DVD burner, you can compress the movie to fit on one CD. However, this takes a lot of practice, and time. But, it can be done.

Ahh. Thanks. I just realized my CDR-RW Drive doesn't play DVDs, so it's a moot point, BUT, could I hook up my PS2 (which plays DVDs) to my computer? How would I do this?

um, DM... cracking DVD encryption (which you'd have to do, I believe to copy DVDs) is illegal. Just thought I'd let ya know in advance.

My Daewoo dvd standalone dvd player plays SVCDs really well. If you hunt around on irc (I have only heard mind you) you can find movies in dvd rip format of svcd. perfect quality, but they supposedly take up up to four cds to get that good quality. I have even heard that Lord of the Rings Two towers is in svcd on four cds and beutiful quality. Just hearsay mind you

My dvd player cost me under 100$ and plays just about everything from .mp3, raw .mpg, dvd, svcd, vcd, regular audio cds...
