Star Wars Clone War Animated Series In The Works
    Friday, November 15, 2002 8:57 CST

TheForce.Net and AICN are both reporting that an animated series based on the Clone Wars is in the works. Reportedly, Lucasfilm created a pilot for the series and took it to Cartoon Network recently for a sales pitch. The results are yet to be known. More details are emerging, but speculation indicates that this is a CG cartoon on some sort.

I'd rather see a new movie/movies, whether they take place between Episode III and IV, or after VI, whose script & dialogue was OUT of George's hands, and of course, not directed by him either.

How about some characters we actually CARE ABOUT, George??

I bought the Ep 2 DVD this week, and was disappointed to discover that outside of the thrill of seeing the film (or any film) in the theatre, I could absolutely CARE LESS what happens to these characters/actors. Well, other than Obi-Wan and the Fetts. I literally fast-forward through any scene where Anakin talks, especially the ones with Natalie Portman. Way to make the two best young actors on the planet look BORING, George.

    Yawn.

Geez, if there was a DVD with Vader playing checkers, and Han Solo kicking back with a 12 pack of Twinkies and a case of High Life, I'd run out and buy that in a heartbeat....BECAUSE THEY'RE COMPELLING CHARACTERS.

    Get a clue uncle George.

I had the same feelings as you on the Episode II DVD. It didn't translate well to the small screen for me. It's time for Lucas to hand over his characters to some other creative-talents, much like he did with the books, comics, videogames, etc.

Jeez, I think the whole Star Wars realm after ROTJ is fertile for that. How about making a series around the X-Wing books? That would be AWESOME!!!

Tons of background material out there in the books, get someone to write it who knows them, and work in the spaces between the books.

God, that's a great idea. I'd watch it.

I'll watch it.....bring it on! This could work if Lucas aims this towards Star Wars' fans...

Give it an edge and some snappy dialogue......oh yeah and a no Jar-Jar mandate.

Episode II didn't translate well on to the small screen???

    Huh?

Man, Clones kicked ass! The movie was the best Star Wars SINCE Empire (didn't say it was better).

Sometimes I just don't understand some people who say 'the characters suck now...its not like we care for them like in the older movies'.

    Bullshit.

Care for the characters? Star Wars has always been about fun and having the characters do fun and wild things.

    Same formula.

And if some of you get turned off by too much CG, Get over it.

I'd really like to see a puppet Yoda do a fight scene.

Ha! That would've been so hilarious, Clones would've bombed big time.

In fact, I would LOVE to see an upgrade to some more scenes from the original trilogy.

The lightsabre duel between Vader and Obi-Wan in A New Hope is pathetic (hey, its all they could do back in the late 70s). Insert a CG Vader and Obi-Wan in some shots to make the duel a whole lot better.

I also think that with so many effects that we see now in the SW movies, some people don't follow the story. They get lost in all the visuals. Yes, this I admit.

They get lost in the visuals more so because that's all they wanna see anyway.

Star Wars created a reputation from its earlier films that it had to make people's jaws drop.

And that's what people always see now.

There is a story and a damn good one. Just try to pay attention.

Oh and yes, a Star Wars animated series would be cool.

As long as its done right and is faithful to the movies.

(Remember the show 'Droids' back in the mid 80s?)

My biggest problem: Watching the new extended-version of LOTR and watching AOTC. Apples and oranges, yes, but AOTC hardly compares on many levels.

That's true, you do get more bang for your buck with the LOTR DVD.

    Incorrect.

That was NOT the formula of the originals. You must be 12 years old or something.

The secret was the characters.....you CARED and were CURIOUS about the characters.

    Period.

There have been so many movies with better action sequences than the Star Wars trilogy.....my lord, I don't have enough fingers to count them!

I don't care about Padme. I don't care about Anakin. I don't care about Jar Jar.

    However:

I'd watch Solo get stupid drunk and fall over a couch. I'd watch Yoda burn his mouth on hot soup. I'd watch Luke whine and get slapped by his wife.

And so would everybody else. Your soapbox is faulty and broken.
