Out of all the things that didn't exist when you were born, which would you consider your favourite? Discounting medical discoveries that may come in handy for me at some point, I would have to say the CD gets my nod. If you've never owned a record album, you don't know the fun you missed. No matter how hard you tried to take care of them, they would always get that inevitable pop, and more than likely it would be in a spot that was real quiet. Took me years of owning the CD of Boston to get that series of pops out of my head that was on my vinyl version right at the quiet point where "Foreplay" is ending and "Long Time" is starting. Music has always been so important to me, even though I don't play an instrument, that I can't imagine life now without the CD player. Never liked tape - 8 tracks were horrible, not only bad technology, but the powers that be saw nothing wrong with stopping a song in the middle for a program change, and then resuming it, back tracked a little bit on the next program. Stupid sh*t! Cassettes weren't much better - never had a record album get eaten! My only disappointment is there is a lot of stuff I have on vinyl - especially singles and the like, that I can't get on CD.

Interesting topic billy-
In my 32 years of existence, there's been a bunch of new technology available to the average consumer. On my list would be VCRs and CDs, but the best develpment would have to be the Internet. It has totally changed the way we communicate, do business, and get information. Can't imagine something that has had such a major impact in the last 5 years. Of course, this has also been made possible with the advancements in computers too....

The Internet for sure. None of us would know each other if there wasn't the Internet.

CD's and the internet in general have been great.
The PC is a lifesaver.

In a way I miss albums, but not the inconvience.

You know, technically computers were invented before I was born.

Now, affordable, desktop personal computers on the other hand

But things strictly created in my lifetime... got to vote for DVDs. (hell, the internet existed for decades in the military)

I'd like to say "Van Halen," but they beat my by a few years
