    Not entirely true.....

This corporate bubblegum shit resurfaces every few years when there is a void of REAL music (like now) to keep it from taking over the airwaves.

In the early 60's it was Fabian, Frankie Avalon, and Pat Boone after Elvis was in the army, Buddy Holly was dead, and Chuck Berry was in jail. The Beatles and Stones put an end to that shit.

Shaun Cassidy's attempt to pass as a rock star in the disco era was cut short by 4 guys from Pasadena whose names you might remember....

And in addition to killing transvestite hair bands, my fellow Washingtonians managed to rid us of New Zits on the Jock.

Ford, I'm reading "Heavier than Heaven" the Cobain biography and It really sounds like the towns where Kurt grew up were real shitholes.

Have you read the book? If so, is it pretty right on with it's descriptions of the towns he grew up in?

But is the issue "boy band crap" or "lip synching crap"?

Aberdeen, actually Grays Harbor County in general is one of the most depressed, and depressing areas of the state. It's heavily dependent on two industries, timber and fishing. Neither are what they used to be, as both were subject to a great deal of greed and overharvesting by the commercial entities involved, which ended up hurting not only their employees, but the small independent loggers and fishermen trying to support themselves. Even in the best economic times of the 90's, they still had one of the highest unemployment rates in the country. If it weren't for Ocean Shores and other beach areas, the whole county would be a wasteland. And during the winter, it basically is.

Grays Harbor also not coincidentally has one of the highest suicide rates in the country. So while Kurt took himself out of Aberdeen, it's possible that Aberdeen was still in Kurt

Around here, we call it "Aberdoom", and with good reason.....

Looking at the map, I drove through Aberdeen a few years ago - didn't know of its significance, don't really recall it.
So FORD, how did you happen to know Kurt anyway?

Thanks for the info......the book is one hell of a good read so far. I had no clue that the dudes who ran sub pop back then where such assholes about releasing the "Love Buzz" single. It's a wonder it was every put out.....
