SactoFan,

Congratulations on keeping Webber. With that said, does it really make much difference? NOBODY is going to be Shaq and Kobe for a long, long time.

No doubt L.A. is the team to beat. But, before you and Brett get all crazy on me, you have to admit that the Lakers are going to have it tougher with Sac's acquisition of Bibby...

L.A. has Shaq and Kobe and they are the dynamic duo...But, Sacramento has the depth and the Maloofs aren't spending money like this to be second best...

The road to the title goes through Staples, but I'm willing to bet L.A. will NOT dominate the Kings this coming season...Maybe a season split, but no domination...

O.K. Brett...Hit me with your best shot!

Seen - The Blazers record for 2001-02 (42-40). Mark my words.

Sacto - I need to see who the Lakers get for me to accurately judge whether the Kings can get a game or not if they meet again in the playoffs this upcoming season.

Hey Seen and Sacto, nice to have you guys back.

    Seen,

What's the status with Sabonis? Greg Anthony and Stacey Augmon are gone, and Rod Strickland will soon be, also. The scoop is that the Blazers are going to get Derek Anderson in a sign and trade from San Antonio. I haven't heard yet what Portland will be giving up in return. If you guys give up Bonzi Wells, you're nuts. Bonzi is a better player than Derek Anderson. I think the Blazers will win more than 42 games, but they will be no better than third in the Pacific Division.

    Sacto,

Yes, CWebb is coming back to the Kings. However, based on everything that I've been reading, it sounds like he did everything possible to go somewhere else. But, he had no real viable options, so he is going to stay with the Kings and take the money. I can't say I am even remotely surprised, but it is pretty obvious that Webber's heart is not in Sacramento. There may be problems down the road. I'll email you some articles that I've come across.

    Brett,

What do you think of the Lakers acquisitions of Lindsey Hunter, Mitch Richmond and Samaki Walker? I think they will all fit in nicely and that we're going to be kicking everybody's asses again when it counts next year. It sure is nice to have the game's two best players. It must suck not to.

Hey man, I havnt heard anything from sabis. I have no idea, but heard he was pretty disgusted with the season and management and that LA was a possibility.

Bad news on Anthony and Augmon Strickland was a big fuckin jinx so no harm there. I'd love to have Anderson from San An, but agree that losing Bonzi basically wraps the season. I'd still very much like to see Rasheed get the fuck outta dodge though. Pippen too...expensive mistakes last year.

I honestly see them placing second and getting to the western finals again, but I think they blew their chance at a title. The dream team talent is getting hacked up all over the place, but who knows, maybe cheeks can pull some rookie magic outta his ass.

Brett, L.A.'s losses don't seem so bad right now...Horace and Harper are at the end...Mitch will offer good experience...How bad will losing Lue bode for the future?

Coulda...I've seen and read them all and I don't believe any of that...I could give you as many quotes from Webb about wanting to be here...Those people who say he doesn't want to stay are the same ones who said his departure was imminent...

    Sacto,

I don't know Webber anymore than I know EVH or DLR. However, one of the things that I read from people who do supposedly know him is that he never seems to be happy.

Here's something to worry about. Now that Webber has the maximum contract, what's to stop him from requesting a trade down the road? That way, he can have his money and go play in a city where he wants to be. I'm not saying this will happen, but it's certainly a possibility.

What's to stop any star from requesting a trade? Shaq could ask for a trade...He wants to be here...I'm going to go see him say so at 4pm today in downtown Sac!!!

Shaq just says he wants to be traded when Kobe takes too many shots. However, if a player really wants to get out of town, he can make life miserable for everybody else, and sometimes moving that player becomes inevitable.

As of right now, I think the Kings are probably the second best team in the entire NBA. This is especially true if the Spurs lose Derek Anderson without getting a decent replacement for him. As long as Webber is happy and playing like he's happy, the Kings will do very well. If he loses his focus, like he kind of did in the Laker series this past playoffs, the Kings are going to have problems.

Ok Ok I was just kidding seen, 44-38.

Coulda - I like the signings, I think it's pretty obvious now JR Rider will not be back next year. I think if the Lakers can get someone to back Shaq up, that would be helpful. I see no reason why the Lakers won't be as solid as they have been.
