I installed my new DVD burner this weekend. The burner itself along with the IDE cable that came along with it.

My computer does not boot up totally. Blank screen, no Windows icons.

I took the burner out and put the old DVD ROM back (not a burner just DVD ROM) with the IDE cable that was originally in there and everything works perfectly. Just like I had never installed the new burner.

I need this burner to view the US Festival DVD's that Dr. Love made for me.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

Figure out what the jumper setting is on the old drive, and duplicate it on the new one. Use the old cable unless you've got a good reason for using the new one.

    FWIW, I don't see how there'd be a difference in what files you can view/play on a DVD-ROM vs a DVD-R drive.

    Are you using both CD-ROMs?

If yes, then make sure you have the CD-ROM jumper on MASTER, and use the top connector on the IDE cable. Then use the middle connector to connect the Burner, and make sure the jumper is on SLAVE.

If you're only using the Burner, then make sure you use the top connector and set the jumper to MASTER.

    The Boston Somersets (1902)
    The Boston Pilgrims (1903-1906)
The Boston Red Sox (1907-present) - Proof

The Pilgrims/Americans/Somersets whatever you want to call them, have NEVER displayed "SOX" anywhere on their caps, jerseys, or merchandise, therefore they shouldn't be referred to as such. However, the White Sox have used "SOX" since 1912.

The SOX are in Chicago...we just allow the Pilgrims/Americans/Somersets to use the name.

Look at the back of the drive. You'll see little pins with a white square on one of them. You need to look a label on each set of pins. One will say CS (Cable Select), SLAVE, MASTER, etc. If you put the square on the MASTER, it'll be MASTER.

Look at the instructions that came with your drive too. There should be a visual aid showing you what the jumper looks like.

</font>[/QUOTE]Yes, you can. If you don't have the ability to get to it, you can usually get it out with longnose pliers. But typically, it slides out rather easily if you can get it with your fingernails.

I've wondered that myself my friend. But, when I put the DVD +RW into the drive, MusicMatch Jukebox loads.
