Any fans of the 'Alien' movies here? I recently watched each of them from the first to the fourth. Ripley is one bad-ass chick. The second movie, Aliens, is my favorite, and James Cameron directed it. I heard they're going to do an Alien vs. Predator movie, which I would be interested in seeing.

The Alien series is pretty decent but after 2 it gets progressively worse. The second movie is definitely my favorite of the bunch. Bill Paxon has some great one liners in that one.

I love the first two. The third one is dreadfully boring and the fourth one was decent but had suspense-free rehash of it's predecessors.

I got the box set of DVDs for my birthday a couple of years ago. Great stuff!

1 & 2 seem to be the universal favorites, and rightly so. I quite liked the 3rd. I thought the prison/refinery was pretty creepy, and the prisoners/one woman thing added an edge to it

the 4th was OK I guess for the first part, although it wasnt really scarey as such. that stupid ass 'baby' though was ridiculous, and from its conception onward the movie stunk big time. Stupid stupid monster.

There is indeed a Alien Vs. Predator in the works, but sadly it's been placed in the wrong hands. It might be ok. Paul (Resident Evil, Mortal Kombat) Anderson (not to be confused with the Paul Thomas Anderson of "Boogie Nights" fame has been hired to write/direct.
Interestingly enough, Sigorney Weaver brought the idea of a stand-alone "Alien 5" to Ridley Scott set on either Earth or the alien-homeworld and he seemed interested. If this one were to be made, it'll be several years since Ridley Scott's got at least 3 films in the works.
BTW, I'm a huge fan of all of the Alien flicks! My order of preference: 1,2, 4, then 3. The first one was my first R rated movie and I was only 8. That movie (and Jaws) scared the shit out of me at that age!

I'm a huge fan of the first two. Scott directed a masterpiece that is still to this day is copied over and over and over again. Cameron did allmost the impossible. He stepped into the shoes of a legend and directed a sequel that IMHO is even beter than the original.

A little of subject....I wished (though I know it had zero chance of ever happening) that George Lucas would have let Scott, Cameron, and Spielberg direct the prequels in Star Wars. Lucas I think would have made an excellent exceutive producer.....and would have allowed a somewhat different spin on the Star Wars franchise to happen. I heard that Spielberg really really wanted to direct one of them.......

I have to agree as well. Alien and Aliens are two of my all time favorite movies. Both movies grabbed a hold of me and took me on journey. They were both rollercoaster rides from beginning to end. As far as I'm concerned, the series should have ended after Aliens. Classics.
