I started getting those monday evening and spent the night at the hospital for the first time in my life. I thought I was gonna die. It was the scariest I've ever felt my whole life.

For those who never experienced heart palpitations, let me tell you: it feels SCARY and AWFUL. Especially when they happen 7-8 times every minute.

Basically the cardiologist told me that it was benign and I wouldn't die from heart attacks, and that I should just ignore them. That's easy for her to say.

I went to medhelp.org forums and read some of the people's comment there, and it reassured me a bit... but still, to know how common they are, I'm interested to know if any Halen heads have this problem.

My wife had a similar problem - and she got pretty much the same line you did after lots of tests. We DO think however, that her problem is triggered by allergies, as it only seems to happen during certain months (pollen and mold are notoriously bad where we live in Lexington, KY). Good luck, Spanish Doctor - I hope you get some conclusive results.

Hope everything turns out cool Doc. I've spent a night or two in hospital recently. The worst part is the fact that the doctors always look very skeptical when I'm telling them what the problem is, like I'm lying or something. A couple of times they have toyed with removing my appendix, even though they admit that they have no idea if it's even the problem. The last time I spent the night they came back and informed me that I only have one kidney; getting that info from the doctor was like an Abbott and Costello routine.

I hear you though, it's scary to be young (I'm 29) and have something that doesn't really have a concrete explanation. Like I said, hope it goes okay from here on out.

Spanish Doc, I'm a 29 year old guy and I've been having these types of problems for a long time. I've been to the emergency room before when my heart rate was up to 220 beats a minute! And yes I've had problems with "skipping" before also. What I've gathered from all of thes visits is that we all have an electric current(yes that's right!) that keeps our heart beating at a normal rate. For some of us(and for some unknown reason) this current tends to "jump" sometimes(no pun intended) Doc's don't really know why. If it happens again, just try to stay calm(Yes,I know how hard that is) and remember that modern medicine has all kinds of ways to bring your heartbeat back to a normal rate. I know it's scary, but it really does happen to alot more people than you'd think, and most folks come out fine! Hope this helps! P.S. Read my post several times and try to remember it. This may sound silly, but if it happens again I guarantee what I've said here will help calmn you down!

Hey doc, as a RN, I can tell you these posts are giving you pretty good advice. Just try to play it cool. (Easy for me to say!) You need to learn when you might be having a big problem and get help immediatly! For the doctor to say it's nothing is kind of bogus. Take it with a grain of salt....uhhh....on the other hand cut down on the salt! Just kidding. Somebody on one of these posts said their heart rate went to 220. Notice to all, this would qualify as a "BIG" problem. You could have a stroke, get help ASAP. Don't mean to ramble...Take care of your self! AZ

Az Halen is right. I did not mean to infer that you should NOT go to the emergencey room RIGHT AWAY if this happens again. I was just trying to let you know that when and if this happens again, it does NOT mean that you are going to die. Stay cool, get to a hospital, and remember what I said in my former post. Telling someone that they are at deaths door will only make things worse.

Span Doc. I'm 28 and I started getting the same thing when I was about 22 I guess. I'm not much for doctors, only been to one for myself once, and that was when I was born. From Glenns post you can see why. For me, it does not happen 7-8 times in a minute, although it used to happen maybe 5-6 times over a 3-4 minute span. I have found that sometimes just tuning in (rather than freaking out), and concentrating on certain breathing can and will affect both the severity and the amount of re-occurnces over the minutes. I have gotten used to it, as you will. Its certainly not an interference of any kind in my life now.

Btw, stress and anxiety play a big part in when they occur for me. I have become pretty low key these days Also, lack of sleep. Dont worry about it bro. It aint no thang!

    Thanks for the support guys.

For me seenbad, a "sequence" lasts about 1-2 hours per day. And in each sequence I get about 6-7 PVCs per minute.

I have about 2-3 "sequences" per day. As I write this I have no PVCs at all.

    That's frightening stuuf, man.

    I'm glad you're OK, Doc.

I guess the initial shock of being told that you have this condition is what's worst.

Seenbad's still alive and kickin' ass. LOL.

You will be too, my friend.
