The king of children's programming on PBS has passed away from cancer at the age of 74. I grew up watching his show everyday, and it sucks knowing he is now gone.....

Gosh, who didn't grow up with him? I lived for the trolly when I was little. Couldn't wait for that part of the show. Such sad news. Mr Rogers is one of those people that you just assume is always going to be around. He'll be missed.

I heard about Fred Rogers' passing on the radio this morning. I too remember growing up watching Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood (he was right up there with Big Bird & Company). It ain't such a beautiful day in the neighborhood, kids.

Even as an adult, no matter how cheesy Mr. Rogers came off, I always considered him one of my heros (seriously). There was such a simple and caring quality about him that you just don't find today. Last September, I read that Mr. Rogers recorded a bunch of tv spots regarding the 9/11 anniversary for children. He spoke to children to remind them that the images they were going to see on tv were from the previous year, and not of new terrorist attacks. It was this thoughtful caring that made Fred Rogers the legend that he was. Rest in peace neighbor.

Gozer the Traveller will come in one of the pre-chosen forms. During the rectification of the Vuldronaii the Traveller came as a very large and moving Torb. Then of course in the third reconciliation of the last of the Meketrex supplicants they chose a new form for him, that of a Sloar. Many Shubs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Sloar that day I can tell you.

This really is sad news. Mr. Rogers was a great human being.

A fond memory I have is how at the end of the show he'd sing his little "It's Such a Good Feeling" song. I loved it when he'd get to the line where he sang "make a snappy new day," then snap his fingers. Man, I swear he could snap his fingers more loudly than anyone else in history!

    R.I.P., neighbor.

Shoot, my 3-year old watches him every night. He's too young to explain this to.

I wish we would get some good news sometime soon.

I had tapes of the show and could sit for hours watching it. One more part of my childhood gone forever.

This is so sad to hear, especially with what happened to me yesterday.

Now mind you, I don't have any way to prove this except that a lot of you may vouch for my character and all, as well as God Almighty knows what I was thinking...

My daughter and I were driving to her daycare yesterday and there is a station on the radio that simulcasts the PBS affiliate here in Mid-Mo. They had the audio of Mr. Rogers yesterday around 8:30ish or so and as I was listening to it, I thought to myself what a great guy he is and how he is one of those childhood icons that is still bringing innocence and relevance to toddlers and young kids, even today. I thought how sad it would be to hear that he had passed away and the shock we'd all feel.

Imagine my shock when I read this morning that he had in fact died when just yesterday I'd imagined that day happening!!

I'm not sure what caused me to think this, but it was a weird gut feeling I get once in awhile that someone may be passing away. I don't think I'm John Edwards or any such nonsense like that, but sometimes these "feelings" are a little too premonition like. Weird.

Anyway, Mr. Rogers was my favorite guy when I was about 4 or so. In fact, whenever he'd pop thru the door, slide off his shoes and put on his slippers & cardigan sweater, so would I. I had my own set near the TV whenever his show came on.

I hope they continue to run his show for a while longer, but it really feels like a family friend has passed on.

    R.I.P Mr. Rogers.
