Come on. I know it's only June, but this team has been pretty impressive. They are on their way (tonight) towards winning 13 of their last 14 games. They are 2nd in the National League w. a 33 & 21 record (.611) soon to be 34 and 21 record & first in the Central Division. They have swept the Diamondbacks, nearly swept the Brewers but for one game, and are kicking the stuffing out of St. Louis. They are 2 soon to be 3 games ahead of the Cardinals. All of this after a 8 game losing streak.

Check these guys out. The pitching has been awesome, the fielding, the hitting, etc... To make things better, their pitching staff is only going to get better. They just landed Marc Prior w. the 2nd pick in the draft & have signed some Korean rising star.

Yeah? The White Sox are on their way to win their 11th in their last 12. They'll still be 6 games under .500 from a weak start. The Cubs have some good pitching, and that will win you some games, but Bere and Wood are time bombs with their rubberband, scotchtape arms. We'll see how for real they are in September. It's a long season, and it's not won in June, which you stated. I think we all know which is the better team in Chicago.
CHICAGO WHITE SOX - 2005 WORLD CHAMPIONS

The Chicago White Sox (1901-present) - The Original SOX - Proof

The Boston Americans (1901)
The Boston Somersets (1902)
The Boston Pilgrims (1903-1906)
The Boston Red Sox (1907-present) - Proof

The Pilgrims/Americans/Somersets whatever you want to call them, have NEVER displayed "SOX" anywhere on their caps, jerseys, or merchandise, therefore they shouldn't be referred to as such. However, the White Sox have used "SOX" since 1912.

The SOX are in Chicago...we just allow the Pilgrims/Americans/Somersets to use the name.

You also mention Mark Prior. I bet you with the Cubs set rotation that they're gonna trade him for a position player like Vlad Guerrero or Todd Helton. But what do I know?

They traded Garland for Matt Karchner.

Who knows. If the Cubs feel they can/should do it, they will. (Cubs & White Sox have the best & 2nd best farm systems in major league baseball)

And as for the W. Sox, they're coming alive too. Do I hear "Subway Series?...." Maybe. We'll see.

I grew up a Cubs fan. And every June it seemed like they were in first place and everyone was screaming, "this is the year!" And every September they were back in the basement.

Sorry--I love the optimism of Cubs fans and all, but I've been burned too many times getting my hopes up in early summer.

I'd love nothing better than to see a bona fide Cubs-Card pennant race come Memorial Day, but I'm not standing in line for playoff tickets just yet.

Man, I just heard on Fox Sports this morning that the Sox MIGHT be wanting to trade David Wells to the Redbirds. I know he's been in a slump lately and I don't know if it would be a good move on either team's part, but I think the Sox' troubles are more than just Wells' inconsistency.

Cubs vs. Sox in the series??? A guy can always dream, huh?

No kIdding? I got tickets to see the Cards-Sox game at Busch on the 16th. That'd be a hoot if they made the trade, then stuck Wells in the rotation to pitch that day. Wonder how many brushbacks it would take before they throw him out?

Even from the cheap seats, we wouldn't have any problem spotting his blubbery behind, that's for sure.

I'd rather listen to VDIII 10 consecutive times, sober, at high volume, than see the Yankees in the World Series again.

They ain't stopping the Mariners this time.

All you yucks need to get off the crack pipe. The Tribe is the only team with the firepower to dethrone the Yankoffs. The Twins, Chi-Sox( You guys showed your true colors at the beginning of the season),and Cubbies are all living pipe dreams right now.

The Chi-Sox have the best farm system? Get the fuck outta here. No way, no how! Better than Cleveland, N.Y. Yankees, or the Braves? Shut the fuck up. Your high.

Go Cleveland!!!!! INDIANS ALL THE WAY!!!

Well, Cary Woods just "rubberbanded" the Cardinals again tonight. I know they'll start choking though...I can just sense it.

I mean, they're from Chicago. Don't ALL Chicago sports teams do something stupid eventually to screw up their chances to win or continue winning????

CUBS 4 CARDINALS 3

Cubs just completed the sweep of the Cards w. Sammy's slide into home. 36 and 21. This is the Cubs best start since 1975. Already, they've equalled their streak record for consecutive victories (12) that was set in 1936. I've learned not to call a sure thing, but I'm very optimistic.

As for the White Sox, they just beat Kansas City 5 to 1. Their current record is 25 and 31. Their slowly creeping out of their slump.
