The Powerball jackpot is at $200 million for tonight's drawing. I chose not to take part in the multi-person office pool for tickets. It seems some of my coworkers think that 40 chances out of eleven million are significantly better odds than one out of eleven million. I can't decide whether to buy my own ticket or stand naked and drenched in the middle of a corn field with a lightening rod strapped to my head. Hmmmm . . .

Van Halen were going to buy a group ticket but Dave wanted too big a cut if they won.

Nobody won the Powerball jackpot! It goes to almost $300 million for Saturday's drawing ($150 million after taxes ). If I won, I would give a huge chunk to Catholic Charities, quit my job and work for Amnesty International, build a gorgeous contemporary, mostly glass home in the Rockies, and dream up some foundation to help poor women become better educated. All this after I high-tail it to some incredible island paradise to get away from the phone calls from people begging for money. First, I have to buy a ticket.

    What would you do?

Hiya Lawchick..I work over here at Quintiles, and was thinking about the odds...Actually, there are 80 million combinations, and pooling will not help a bit as you said. Hey if these guys ever get together, we should go see a show. As for what I would do with the prize,,, I sure wouldnt work here....

Quintiles! You folks did the clinical research for a drug that I am defending in some lawsuits. Nothing wrong with that research, by the way! And you are right -- the odds of any pick matching the winning combination is 80 million to one. Thanks for saying hello. I live north of the river, so we're not too distant!

    Wow.

Almost the same thing as you.

One of the best things about winning an amount like that is that you could do so many things for people in need, which is one of my biggest dreams I'd like to fulfill.

Then, I'd treat myself to a "few" things.

(I know I'd buy Brett his own dedicated server for this site, for one thing. hee hee)
