Sorry to hear (and see) that! I've got a friend who had some sort of abdominal hernia, and he's never had it fixed! He was working on a faucet for me one day, and when he lifted his shirt to wipe his face, I was like, "What's that big baby head looking bulge on your stomach?!" He says he doesn't trust doctors, so he's left it!

What kind of lifting were you doing and what weight, exactly? On my current job I sometimes lift heavy boxes, but I know I'm not 30 anymore. I'm afraid of throwing something out of whack.

I got mine lifting a pine table at work.

I remember this feeling, like something tore.
Then, days later, i'm in the shower & it looks like i'm growing a third testicle , above
    the other two.

I had no idea what it was, assumed it was a tumor.

I went to the medical walk in & got this Asian woman, and i'm so worried about the "tumor,"
i had no concern dropping my boxers, to show her.

She's looking at it, then checking it with the gloved hand:
You've got a hernia, you will need to have minor surgery.

So i live with the thing for weeks.
Then one day i'm walking up some stairs, and it felt like i got knifed in
    my crotch.
I just stopped, bewildered by this sudden, agonizing stab of pain.

The only thing it doesn't hurt to do, is sleep, because laying down, the hernia
ball goes back into your body.

But you get up, and it's like a burning stabbing pain.

I'm still waiting to tear the other side, as the doc said i have weakness in the intestine
    walls, on both.
But i had this operation ten years ago, and he was like: See you again, in five...

Not sure why he couldn't just do both at once, while i was out.
    Maybe reinforce the tissue.

Another weird thing is before all that, i had kidney stones.
This was a few years before the hernia.

I recently went to the doctor for some blood tests, and he gave me an app, where i
can see my tests results the following day.

So i'm checking my results, but then see that this app shows EVERYTHING, stuff from years back.

I had scan when i had the stones, and the doctor noted:
Patient has a stone traveling through the urinary tract.
Patient also has a small inguinal hernia.

I couldn't believe it, they never mentioned the hernia!

I must have tore the thing even worse, which caused it to become larger.
    But it was years later.

I had a hernia when I was like 25, funny about the tumor, I walked out of the shower one morning in front of the mirror and my right nut was the size of a baseball..I literally got light headed like was going to faint.lol. Was like, well I'm dead.
That surgery sucked..couldn't use my stomach muscles to get out of bed, had to roll out
    Dealing with it.

I developed one...I lifted too soon after I donated a kidney to my wife...part of my intestine pushed through the incision that wasn’t completely healed.

My friends at the gym took to calling it Quaddo after that character in Total Recall (I need new friends).

Had it repaired with a screen....and about 3 months later I managed to rip out the anchors for the screen playing tennis....the doc said I’m fine the anchors are just hanging around...

If I eat too much Quaddo will come back a bit...looks like Square bean bag under my shirt.....

Lol took me forever to get my abs back...scar tissue and the hernia....

I think mine was from lifting weights, throwing around a couple of 25 lb dumbbells. I noticed the ab pain on my walk/run after lifting weights, but I'm quite certain the hernia happened while lifting.

My tummy has become so swollen and bloated and sore since yesterday.
Yeah, getting in and out of bed is a bad one. Constipation from the pain meds is a really bad one. I hope to poop today. That would be wonderful.

My sister brought me a family pack of Eggo waffles yesterday. I've no hash browns. I'm not driving anywhere today. Been downing stool softeners, but to no effect.

Yeah, i remember it was painful to take a crap.

You gotta put pressure (push lightly in) on the hernia area, as you try to.
    The nurse offered that advice.

They gave me oxy, but i fucking hated the feeling, and only used two pills.
I went straight to just Advil.

The post pain wasn't that bad, actually.
I was sore, but walking around like a day or two after.

I remember i could only sleep on one side, not the one where they operated.
