Well, I'm back from the Cape (Cape Cod). Well, at least until the 27th. Then I go right back. Sun, the ocean, girls wearing very little, seafood, & did I mention girls.

Anyway, how about those teams (i.e. the Bulls, Cubs, & Sox). The Bulls have a starting lineup of PF. Charles Oakley, SF Eddie Robinson, C. Brad Miller, PG Greg Anthony (& soon, very possibly, Tim Hardaway) , & SG Ron Mercer/ Fred Hoiberg.

And the bench isn't too shabby. PF. Marcus Fizer, SF. Ron Artest, PG. AJ Guyton, & the two rookies PF./C. Eddy Curry & Tyson Chandler. Chalk up at least 30-40 victories.

And the Cubs, need I say more? Best in the NL. The 2001 World Series....The Seatle Mariners vs. the Chicago Cubs. Hey, I guy can dream.

And the White Sox, for all the shit that's happened w. them are still a resectable ball club. Next year will be very interesting once everyone (half the team) is healthy again.Frank Thomas & Jose Canseco, plus Mags Ordonez, Paul Konerco, Chris Singleton, & Jose Valentin.

Hooligan,

If you think the Bulls are going to win 30 or 40 games this year, you should start selling whatever you're smoking and retire to Cape Cod permanently. You truly are the King of the myopians.

Good to hear from you too buddy. But seriously, I think that title goes to Lamar Odom of the LA Clippers.

"I'm looking at 45 to 50 this season. We aren't going to sell ourselves short."

Yeah, try 20 to 30, mid 30s if they're lucky. The Clippers are going to get their asses kicked from Toronto to LA.

But other than the NBA title this year, what have I been wrong on? Better yet, what have I been right on?

George W. Bush is President

The White Sox won their division last season

The Cubs would still be in first place in
July.

The Rod Strickland trade was a mistake

The Tony Kukoc trade for Mutombo was going to payoff in the playoffs.

Thanks for paying attention O Wise One.

And how 'bout them Blazers & Magic?

Hooligan,

I guarantee that the Clippers will win more games next season than the Bulls. You're all excited about a team with two high school kids (Chandler and Curry), a couple of has beens (Oakley and Anthony, and maybe Tim Hardaway), and a bunch of never will be's (Fizer, Artest, Miller, etc.). I bet Shaq loses sleep on the nights before he has to go head-to-head with Brad Miller! Ron Mercer and Eddie Robinson are decent players, but the rest of your team absolutely blows! If the Bulls win 20 games next year, Tim Floyd should be coach of the year.

It wasn't so much that you were wrong about the Lakers. It was the way you kept jumping from one team to another (Portland to Philadelphia to San Antonio) and GUARANTEED that the Lakers wouldn't win the title. Any fearless predictions for next season, or have you learned your lesson?

Not yet. Although you have to admit when I made the prediction about Portland, they seemed the best bet. The Rod Strickland trade was the dumbest thing that organization could do. The screwed up what chemistry the Blazers had developed as well as the line up. This led to further problems, speared headed by Rasheed.

As for San Antonio, who could have predicted the injury to Derek Anderson? That played a key role. And don't say it wouldn't have. If Derek Fisher was suddenly injured before that series, the Lakers would have lost too.

And how about Phillie. If their entire starting lineup wasn't poised to enter the ER, they would have killed the Lakers.

How about you? Those Lakers are looking real stellar. Shaq & Kobe. (Two stars) Two okay players i.e. Fox & Fisher. (The play by Fisher was a fluke). A has been like Robert Horry. Richmond...wow, the guy is a has been at 36 (almost 37). And Walker, a nobody. And who can forget that white guys. Isn't he one of the Laker girls? Mark Madsen. And how about Hunter, the guy that choked big time during the playoffs w. the Bucks.

Looks like the Lakers have had a great summer! They lost Horace Grant (a huge reason why the Lakers came alive in the playoffs), Tyronne Lue (a budding defender), Greg Foster, will most likely lose Ron Harper to the Forestlawn Retirement Community, not to mention Fisher for a couple more months. Good luck...bffff...they're gonna need it.

Just read the paper this morning. How does this sound? Charles Oakley, Greg Anthony, Eddie Robinson, Tim Hardaway, Eddie Jones, Wally Szerbiak, Fred Hoiberg, Brad Miller, AJ Guyton, Jamal Crawford (when he gets back), Tyson Chandler, & Eddie Curry.

Sound crazy? I know. But it's in the works. The Hardaway thing is getting closer to reality. And the Eddie Jones & Wally trades would be the result of 3 way trades. We lose Ron Mercer & Marcus Fizer & get Eddie & Wally in return.

Talk about a stellar summer. Let's look at your Bulls. You traded away your only good player, Elton Brand, for a High School kid. You drafted another High School kid, Eddy Curry, who will likely spend his career fighting his weight. Then, there's Antonio Davis. Here's a bona-fide NBA player (your team sure could use one of those, don't you think?) who wanted to sign with the Bulls because his wife is from Chicago. Guess who screwed that up? Yes, Jerry "Crumbs" Krause lowballs him by about $10 Million and Davis goes back to Toronto and says he's got the Bulls circled on his calendar for some payback. I think the other teams just circle the Bulls on their calendars as nights off.

You know, a Bull fan bagging on the Lakers is kind of like Rosie O'Donnel bagging on Pamela Anderson. Fisher makes 51.5% of his 3-Point shots in the playoffs, and you call it a fluke? Have you ever played basketball? Robert Horry scores the last 7 points of Game 3 of the NBA Finals, and yet he's a has-been? Well, then he's a has-been with 4 rings, so far. The Sixers would have killed the Lakers if their entire starting lineup wasn't poised to enter the ER? That comment just makes you sound stupid. The only reason Philly got ONE game was because the Lakers blew a 5 point lead in overtime in Game 1 after an 11 day layoff. Once the Lakers got back in the groove, they toyed with the Sixers in games 4 and 5. By the way, didn't Derek "Fluke" Fisher have a broken foot during the playoffs? Funny how you didn't hear him crying about his injury like the Sixers. "We've got heart". Yeah, well "We've got rings".

Hooligan, in case you haven't figured it out yet, superstars win championships. It just so happens that the Lakers are the only team that has two of them. When San Antonio won the title, they had Duncan (superstar) and Robinson (superstar then, not now). When the Bulls won all those titles, they had Jordan (superstar then, we'll find out about now) and Pippen (superstar then, has-been now). The Rockets had the game's best player (in the absence of Jordan) Olajuwon and a cast of very good players (Drexler, Cassell, Horry). The Pistons had Thomas, Dumars, Rodman and a host of solid players. The Showtime Lakers had Magic, Kareem, Worthy, Cooper, Scott and others.

The current Lakers are using the same formula and the same coach as the 90's Bulls. They will continue to surround their two superstars with solid role players and they will continue to win championships. You don't have to like it, but unless you turn off your television, you will have to watch it. Reality, sometimes it sucks, doesn't it?

Hooligan, get off the crack man. If you think the Bulls are going to be a 30+ win team, you are high. You traded away your best player (who of course would leave in 2 years anyway) and are excited about a team that has Charles Oakley in the starting lineup? You're kidding right. I GUARANTEE the Clippers win more games than the Bulls, shit I'll put money on it. Hell I'll even give odds.

You have answers for everything, Fisher was a fluke, Rod Strickland cost the Blazers, Derek Anderson injury cost the Spurs. Oh please, get a grip. The Lakers outplayed every team injuries or not, and hell apparently Fisher's foot was broken for most of the playoffs? Casually forgetting that?? Don't worry about the Lakers, we'll be having this same conversation next year at this time, the Lakers 3-peat, the Bulls go 15-67 again.

And another one bites the dust. Houston is still down 3 games. Looking forward to the playoffs. How about you guys? I'm sorry, I forgot. Your teams couldn't beat the Newark Bears.

But hey. You'll have something to celebrate. Maybe Barry Bonds will break the homerun record.

And hey, why don't you guys get off that "crackpipe." (can't you guys come up w. some new material?) Derek Fisher's play last year was definately a fluke & Robert Horry is a has been. The guy sucks during the regular season. If you guys can't comprehend that, you're either in denial or are just morons.

Hooligan,

I guess all of the crack-pipe comments are based upon the conclusion that no one could concoct the idiotic statements that you so consistently author without being under the influence of some foreign substance.

Hooligan on crack exhibit #1:

The Cubs are 56 and 40 and the Dodgers are 55 and 43. So after nearly 100 games, the Cubs are 2 games better than the Dodgers and you're talking as if the Cubs are baseball's equivalent to the Lakers and the Dodgers are baseball's equivalent to the Bulls. BTW, baseball's equivalent to the Bulls would be the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Also, who are the Newark Bears? Did your football team move to New Jersey?

The Cubs haven't won the World Series since 1908 and haven't even been in the World Series since the 1940's. Slow down my friend, it's still July. There is a long ways to go. Plenty of time for the Cubs to remember their history and CHOKE!!!

Hooligan on crack exhibit #2:

Uh, Hooligan, Barry Bonds plays for San Francisco. Brett and I live in Los Angeles. We would no sooner like to see Bonds set the single season home run record than you would like to see the Lakers win the championship AGAIN next season.

Hooligan on crack exhibit #3:

Speaking of the two-time denending NBA Champions, the Lakers were 41 and 21 when Derek Fisher came back from his injury. They then finished the regular season 15 and 5 and went 15 and 1 (the best record EVER in the NBA postseason) in the playoffs. So they were 41 and 21 without Fisher and 30 and 6 with Fisher. He averaged 13.4 points per game and made 51.5% of his 3-pointers in the playoffs, including 15 of 20 against San Antonio and 6 of 8 in the deciding game 5 against Philadelphia. Hey genius, when something happens once or twice, it might be considered a fluke. When it happens repeatedly, it is considered skill.

As far as Robert Horry is concerned, did you watch the NBA Finals? Did you not see Robert Horry hit that 3-pointer out of the left corner with under a minute to play and the Lakers clinging to a 1 point lead in game 3? Was that not the biggest shot of the entire series? Didn't Horry also hit 4 straight free throws to give the game and control of the series to the Lakers? As far as Horry sucking during the regular season, why don't you go ask the San Antonio Spurs (you know, that team that you guaranteed would win the championship before the Lakers crushed them by a conference finals record total of 89 points in 4 games) how much the regular season means.

Hooligan on crack, next exhibits:

Coming soon, to this thread.

Bite thy tongue, Timmy! There are lots of people looking forward to another Bears season, including yours truly.

At least we're faithful to the cause, unlike some of these bandwagon jumping Cub fans. Is there anything worse?

Of course, as soon as the Bears start winning again (and they will), we'll be surrounded by a bunch of new bandwagon-ites in Brian Urlacher jerseys shouting, "DAH Bears, DAH Bears" to anyone who listens. These people don't have a clue who, or what, the Bears are all about. It happened in the mid-80's, it'll happen again soon-- mark my words

A couple of things go our way and we could have a good season. Keeping my fingers crossed.
