Well, there's a 1% chance.

"Michael Jordan would return to the NBA only to prove he could still play at a high level." (C. Tribune 4/21/01)

If there is one thing I've learned, MJ is probably the most competitive guy in this world. If he thinks he can pull it off, he'll do it.

"It's definitely the challenge," the 38-year-old Jordan said Saturday on NBC, adding that he isn't ready to say he'll return next season. "I'm not coming back for money, I'm not coming back for the glory. I think I left the game with that, but the challenge is what I truly love.'"

"In an interview taped Friday in Washington, Jordan said he started thinking about a return after he began playing pickup games when his weight increased to 242 pounds. He says it is now about 218 or 220 — slightly above his ideal playing weight of 212." (C. Tribune 4/21/01)

"Jordan said the assumption that a comeback with the Wizards would mean he would have no chance for a championship is nothing more than idle talk.

"Nobody knows, and I love that," he said.

(Trib 4/21/01)

It's not final, he's just seriously exploring the idea. Shit. The '98 final shot was the ideal going out, but he'll, if this guy could assemble a good team, get his skills back, more power to him. He's already got a ton of cash, draft picks, a great coach, and himself. Anything is possible.

I'M EXCITED!

I think this would be a huge mistake. He's already gone out on the greatest high of any athlete ever. Why taint that?

If he came back, it would be to a team that has no familiarity with playing with him, and players that he'd have no familiarity with either. Watching tape doesn't cut it, they'd have to learn each others' tendancies by playing.

I just think Jordan needs to put his ego away and realize that his time is past.

I agree Glenn. He would be coming back for the wrong reasons and thats not the type of thing that goes well with his absolutely perfect image of a sports hero. Besides, like you said, there simply is no more he can do.

you're all right, but still, if he came back, it would still be awesome.
granted, when he retires for good it probably won't be as exciting as he left in 98, but if he wants to play, i don't see why he shouldn't.

The only positive coming from a Jordan un-retirement is that the league would get a little dignity back.

I can see it now, next year's starting lineup for the Washington Wizards:

Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson at Guards

Charles Barkley and Larry Bird at Forwards

And at Center, a choice between Bill Cartwright, Artis Gilmore and Jack Haley.

The funny part is, in the weak suck Eastern Conference, they would probably be competetive.

I don't want MJ to come back, either...Watching Magic retire and unretire 50 or 60 times was enough for me....

Hey, I'm not gung-ho, he should do it no matter what. I mean, MJ & Doug Collins is awesome, but they need a good supporting cast i.e. pick up a free agent or two (Webber or Carter), and Charles Barkley, and good draft picks. Heck, I wouldn't be suprised if MJ could get Kukoc to come to Washington (anything is better than Atlanta). If MJ could do all that, great. Come back.

This guy is a competitor. He wants to win. If he feels like he has a shot at assembling a stellar team, he'll do it.

Aren't 6 rings enough for the guy?

Don't get me wrong...I'm a Jordan fan, but I'm sick of seeing great players trying to keep it going when they should have passed the torch w/some dignity and let it go.

There's something to be said for someone like Larry Bird, Magic Johnson and up until today, Michael Jordan in so far as they are thought of being great for ONE team only!! I hate the thought of Barry Sanders coming back to play for the Chiefs...MJ putting on a Wizards uniform (who cares if he owns the team...he's not Jerry Jones!)...Troy Aikman as a Charger, etc.

Their talents' are extraordinary, but their legend, in my mind, is due partly because they stuck it out with one team.
