I have read this in more than one interview , the last time I saw this was in a INSIDE mag from awhile back , and I have ALL the INSIDE mags , subscriber since day 1 . Well I will go ahead and tell ya what Al said . He said he likes all the songs but the 2 songs he don't care for are JAMIE'S CRYING & DANCE THE NIGHT AWAY .

Really, what Issue was it it? I know he wasn't the most fond person of I'll Wait and Jump, but I've never heard about JA or DTNA.

Sometimes I can be less in the mood for Jamie's Cryin, but how could Alex not love Dance the Night Away? DTNA would seem like a pretty obvious choice for the next tour, so hopefully Alex doesn't hate it too much.

    Damn, Al doesn't like DTNA?!

I can see him not digging Jamie's Crying, but DTNA? Wow.

In the video for DTNA Al's kicking ass. He's having a great time...

But then again, that WAS 20 years ago. LOL.

I thought that was common knowledge amongst VH fans that Al doesn't like "Jamie's Cryin'" or DTNA. He's been saying it for years, I believe the Inside issue where he says it is the one where they actually interviewed him. I'll see if I can find it when I get home.

    IMPORTANT!
I may have a reason, why Al doesn´t particularly care for Jamie´s Crying.

IF You listen carefully, he makes mistake in the second beginning of:
"She wants to send him a letter..."

Al almost misses the part and forgets to change his hi-hat beats [to 16-time.]

    Anybody else notice that??

MacMake, that could make a musician not like the song (I've had similar experiences on the humble recordings my band has made) - but I can't hear the mistake.

"She wants to send him a letter..." is at 1:03 and 2:05 - both times his transition into 16 sounds good to me... of course I don't have the best ear in the world.

I should be sleeping right now, not worrying about this stuff

I have noticed in DTNA that Dave laughs while saying "room" when he sings, "from across the room" at 0:28 in the song.
Everyone else has probably noticed this, but it just realized it for the first time the other day, and I love that part now...

kinda makes you smile, ya know?

Yeah Eddie once said that things don't always turn out the way you plan them when you record. The song turned out to have a kind of latin/calypso feel which was not what he was going for at all apparently. So yeah that is true 1984.

I read that too, I think in a Guitar One 1998 magazine. They asked Gary something about VH's back catalog & he mentioned he started out in a cover band & one of the songs they did was Dance the Night Away. I think Ed said it was his least favorite song. I think Dave had a different version of that song, something like Dance...something...Dance, I can't remember, gotta check the VHE.
