I don't know the answer to this one, and it's really useless Trivia (couldn't think of a synonym for trivia that started with "C"), but does anyone know what make drill Edward uses on Poundcake (and also can anyone discern what the voices say at the beginning of the song)?

It's a Makita drill which was set at 60 cycles. I'll listen to it soon and see if I can get the conversation part of it for you.

Don't have the CD in front of me, but there is a site that shows the conversation as this.

    Alex: "Ain't that some shit"
    Ed: "OK, ready to go?"
    Alex: "yea"
    Ed: "Yea?"
    Alex: Let's do it"
    Ed: "A'right"

You don't know how many times I've almost blown up my speakers cranking up the beginning of Poundcake.

I wonder what "the shit" was. Maybe it was Sammy calling from some beach in Hawaii saying he'd be there next month!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is a cordless Makita drill with variable speed....if you try this at home (which is cool as HELL) make sure it is a CORDLESS drill!!! When I played Poundcake in my band my singer would actually put the drill up to his mic ..but it was a corded drill..one night he got zapped and his mic and setup sounded like shit....Very dangerous to use a corded drill!! Mr. Big actually used cordless Makita's and actually had Makita banners as part of their stage props.

No, actually it's what Sammy brought back with him from Hawaii that they smoked right before the recorded the song.

And you do not need to dish out big bucks for a Makita. I played this live for years with a cheap black and decker cordless drill and it worked great.

You can actually hold up anything with a motor in it next to the pickups in your guitar and make it work.... I have actually used an electric pencil sharpener to do it.

Pretty cool, eh? And, what is YUNK! An Italian 4 letter word?

I used a Makita drill when we used to do poundcake, but the battery kept wearing out really fast.
