According to the 2000 edition of Guiness (sp)book of world records, the record for most number 1 hits on the Mainstream rock charts is (drum roll please) Van Halen with 11.

It's always great to pick up the world record book and read that....especially to people who are bragging up NSYNC or Spears because you and I know the teeny boppers will not be heard of in 3 years.

yeah that fact doesn't really suprise me becuase a lot of the "popular" rock bands had their problems with people. The Beatles were more pop, Zep was too dark and the others were just not cool. But Halen had a song for all, Jump is a great example.
