As I just learned, cd's are encoded somewhere (the beginning, I assume?) that list the artist, the cd title, and a list of song titles.

When I popped Balance into the pc, the list came up. First off, Baluchitherium is spelled quite poorly, but what struck me is that Feelin' is listed as "Brother John".

    Anyone know anything about this?

I don't think that the CDs themselves are encoded with that info. Most players on the compter will contact a CDDB server on the internet and pull the album information over. It's based on track times. They have user-submitted info, so some of it is bound to be off.

    Yeah, CDDB is weird.

They listed "Feel Your Love Tonight" as Feed Your Love Tonight.

I'm glad they let you correct those at least locally, if not on the server

Interesting. I just threw my Balance cd into the Realjukebox and it got all the titles 100% correct.

Might throw the others in and see what comes up.

Some CD's are coded with all the info. Try Balance when not connected to the internet.

Actually, 6string, if you look in your Windows directory there is a file called cdplayer.ini

If you look at that you'll see once you've contacted CDDB and downloaded CD information, Windows stores it in this file for later use. That's why it comes up when you're offline.
