It is a well known assumption that DLR's "Eat 'em and Smile" title was aimed at VH. Then VH shot back with "OU812". Everybody with me on this? Okay, here's the new theory that I have never heard anyone mention: DLR's next release after "OU812" was 1991's "A Lil' Ain't Enough". Maybe I am just reaching here, but LIL in Roman numerals is 5150? What do you think?

This thread is why I enjoy coming to this site. Just when I have seen everything, someone's creativity puts them on top. I'm not sure if that is what DLR meant with 'A Lil' Aint Enough' but linking it together with 5150 was pretty good thinking.

By the way, have another shot of JD.

It is a well known assumption that DLR's "Eat 'em and Smile" title was aimed at VH.

Roth once said that he got it from a picture of an old watermelon crate from the 20's or 30's. There was a picture of a little girl holding a big piece of watermelon with a big bite missing. The girl was grinning from ear to ear and the caption was "I ate it and smiled". He said that is where the title came from. Who knows?

I always thought of it that "OU812" was named as a poke at "Eat 'em and Smile". But, "EEAS" was not aimed at VH.

Same theory as yours just turned around

Full Bud, I was ready to buy into Zero Discipline's theory until I saw your response. TOO FUNNY, MAN!

Zero Discipline, if that theory wasn't the intention of the bands' then it should have been. A for effort, man!

I like your addition. A little title sparring going back and forth between 'fasticus digitalus' and 'egoisticist giganticus'. It works. And 'Balance' was a call to end it, a truce of sorts?

OU812 was the license plate on a car in a Cheech and Chong movie (Nice Dreams, if my short term memory serves me). Trivia, to be sure.
