It's a shame that the lacklustre sales of VH3 wouldn't warrant an official release of a live album from that tour.

I was listening to a CD I made from MP3s of some of those performances and was again reminded of how great Van Halen sounded in those shows.

I know VH had released a double live album two tours prior, but I really think that a live album with Gary singing all of those old DLR tunes (not to mention Humans Being live) would have sold more than VH3 did.

It's a shame that Gary's brief tenure with VH will be remembered by most as an abomination when the tour they did together was so impressive.

I agree. From what I've heard, the band sounded great that tour and the fans got to hear material not played in years or decades. I don't think Gary was ever accepted, though, on a large scale, which I think would have kept sales low for such a live album (and a double album would have been an even bigger risk that I don't think the record company would be willing to take). But again, I think they were definitely in solid form on that tour, despite what Gary Cherone may have added or taken away.

The shows were pretty good. I thought Cherone did okay singing the DLR songs. Just hearing the music was a highlight. One song I didn't like was 'Why Can't This Be Love'. Maybe its because I wasn't used to hearing Gary voice behind the song.

I really enjoyed the MP3's and the live at the 10 spot video I saw. Eddie was on fire at those shows and his tone for that tour was fantastic.

I did not attend any of the '96 shows, but I saw part of one on a broadcast—can't recall which network. Anyway, I got a weird impression of Cherone live because at one point in the show he somehow made it over to the seats on stage left of the arena, and he was singing in the aisles. Suddenly he plunged down an entire flight of stairs, head over heels, and landed in a heap at the bottom! The song continued, but it was one of the most bizarre things I've ever seen at a show. I watched this video with my friend, and he and I were like—what the?! Did he mean to do that? Or was it an accident that he tried to cover by acting like it was no big deal? Either way, it surely damaged my idea of how Gary was fitting in as frontman of the almighty VAN HALEN—poorly on the album, and lame here too!

Anyone else see this or can remember what happened at this performance?!

Yo, Plane, that infamous move was from MTV's Live from the 10 spot, I have it on tape. There are other laughable moments in this video which is why I never chose to see VH3 or buy the CD. I remember in one of the songs Gary bends over and puts his hand between his legs, and grabs his own ass, What the hell was that? In the beginnin of one of the Roth songs....perhaps Panama, not sure Gary sings" Nah, nah, nah, nah!" It totally didn't fit and sounded lame.

I know Gary sounds like a real class act, but for me after seeing this video I had no interest in VH3. The music sounded great of course, but I couldn't stand Gary singing Roth or Sam songs. The only songs that sounded decent were the ones from 3. Sorry GAry, but I thought you sucked live....in VH anyway.

I've been able to find a few using file-sharing programs(Winmx and Kazaa seem to work pretty well)- Unchained, Jump, DTNA/FYLT, ATBL, and maybe a few others...but I'm hoping to find some more from this tour.

The Vh III tour was a great tour.
It is really a shame Gary never panned out.
Eddie resurected the roth era stuff and it was great to hear.
Its a shame Sammy's ego is to big because to many roth era songs were dropped off the set lists through his years.

Gary sounded terrible singing Why Can't This Be Love. I didn't like his versions of any Hagar era songs.

I liked the way he sang DLR era songs though, especially Mean Street!

</font>[/QUOTE]Yea I agree that he sounded like shit on the sammy tunes. I thought they should have chosen the tunes in the "Van Hagar" catalogue that he could've handled better. But for the most part the boys rocked the house night in and night out. And if any of you guys have WinMX there's a mean live version of Humans Being on there so check it out.
