From the title I thought this one might be headed to the Music Only forum, but I guess you snuck in some VH content at the end. So I'm going to send it to the Opinions forum for continued discussion.

Are you kidding?? From the Disco Dynasty album to the present, with the exception of the MTV Unplugged and the first reunion tour, they have done nothing BUT let their fans down!

    MOTLEY CRUE

Come on man... The album with Corabi was a bad move. Reforming the original band without a decent album ready to go was a worse one. Trying to continue without Tommy Lee was ludicrous and Tommy's rap shit album was unconscionable. Far as I'm concerened, Dr. Feelgood was the last Motley Crue album.

    DEF LEPPARD

    AC/DC

    SLASH

These 3 would be in the eye of the beholder, but I don't think Def Leppard will do another album as good as High & Dry ever again. AC/DC with Brian Johnson has made the same fucking album over and over again. I would consider those letdowns to some extent.

As for Slash, his only letdown was not kicking Axl's pathetic ass.

I'll add U2 to the list. If Bono would give up politics and stick to writing lyrics, I would be thrilled. These guys had a few shitty albums during the 90's, but came back strong.

    Bono give up politics??

The "shitty albums" you refer to (I don't believe they ever made one, but POP was probably the closest) were partially because Bono stopped writing about politics and tried to write commercial songs. Sammy Hagar will give up tequila before Bono gives up politics.

I have to add the Who to this list. After loosing a key member they still managed to eek out a few great songs per album & tour. You MUST check out Pete Townsends website! The man TALKS to you as often as he can! And, even though Roger's voice may not be what it once was, he still gives it his all. I LOVED watching them at the WTC event from The Garden, what a performance!
Just so you know, I'm NOT a big Who fan, but I have to give props. where they are well deserved.

"shitty album by U2" is probably defined as "it wasn't Joshua Tree, Pt. 2." god forbid a band does what they want, be it change their sound, take time off, etc. U2 did what they wanted, more power to them.

U2: I love U2, and as FORD said the only album they had to being close to a stinker was POP, and even most of it I liked. As far as Bono and his politics go; Bono has done an incredible amount of good for a number of causes in the world, and he used his status from being well known in the music biz to do it. I have a hell of a lot of respect for him because weather he is writing lyrics, or addressing the United Nations the guy is honest about it. U2 as a band I like as much as I do because you never know what these guys are gonna throw out there next, I love the diversity...and to me even if it it POP, or Joshua Tree it still sounds like U2.

Motley Crue...I think FORD summed them up perfectly.

Def Leppard...I disagree with FORD, but I think they kinda died when Steve Clarke died.

    KISS...needs no comment

AC/DC...I am not a huge fan, liked Back in Black, Highway To Hell, but I have a lot of respect for them because they have never gone the 'power ballad' route. They just kept on plugging out albums doing what they do, so FORD I disagree with you on that one.

Slash...I think Slash is happy doing what he is doing. And yes he should have kicked Axl's ass but Axl probably would have enjoyed it too much too have any effect. I like Slash's playing as a guitar player, and I think it a shame about how Axl kinda ruined Gun's 'N' Roses.

Stone Temple Pilots. They used to let down the fans ALOT with Weiland's drug problems, canceled concerts, and delayed #4 tour. But now they are back on track and treating their fans better than they ever have before. Shangri La Dee-Da may not be quite as good as their other albums but they definately care about the fans.

They also had the good goddamned sense to change their name when they had a different lead singer. Talk Show, or Talk Soup or whatever it was. There's a lesson that Ritchie Blackmore, Ian Gillan, David Covercheese, Neal Schon, and Eddie Van Halen can all learn from.

    The Grateful Dead.

I think the only thing they ever did to piss off the fans was letting Jerry die.
