After seeing the few pathetic posts and low activity here I believe it's safe to say we have wrung nearly every drop from the towel. The bad thing about it is the band has removed themselves so far from their fanbase that noone has any "real" info anymore.

The "rumors" aren't even that thought provoking anymore. Rumors usually keep up the interest. Winger......lol. Almost had me there.

That's part of the reason I spend much more time, looking at and entering posts in the "Non VH Forums" of late....

Which MAY be a hint that there isn't going to BE a reunion after all this, save for an appearance at the H.O.F.

The time to act was actually about 2 years ago when Gary left. They should have put SOMETHING out. They said they had a BOV2 ready to go; they could have at least done that. And while it ran its course, they could have been preparing for a release last year. They're already more than a year overdue, and it looks like ANOTHER year at least if they do anything at all.

The lack of rumors says a lot-people don't even bother to TRY anymore. At this point, it would be interesting to hear the FULL story behind what Sherman believed to be true; it couldn't hurt anyone NOW.

I disagree with the BOV2 comment. They should release an album or two before they even consider a BOV2.

Normally I would agree with you, but an album or two is liable to take another 12 years to release!

I didn't say I WANTED a BOV2; I was just suggesting it as a POSSIBLE course of action to buy them some time.

In 1985, Tears For Fears released a HUGE record. 3 Top Ten singles, videos on MTV all the time, etc. They were HUGE. They waited FOUR years to release another one, and in the process completely changed their style and sound. It got a lukewarm reception, as people waited too long to hear something else. The core of the band split up,put out a greatest hits in '92, but the "band" continued into the 90's, and actually had some amazing music, but of course nobody heard any of it, as it was MUCH too late. They dabbled with a reunion a couple years back, which fell through. Their solo projects are currently pitiful at best. They alienated nearly every fan they had from waiting so long the first time around, and it's been commercially downhill ever since.

VH has chosen that same road, for whatever reason. At least a BOV2 could have bought them almost a year to get their shit together. Yes, I understand there are health and family issues, but with the amount of stuff they have sitting on the shelves in the studio, they could have used some of it, somehow, without even actively pursuing it. If I didn't know any better, (and I DON'T, really) I would think that they WANT to fade away on a sour note.

I think they should have released some sort of live video, or something along those lines.

Well, IF VH gets into the R&R HALL it will be about the same time in their lives that the Stones got in

the Stones have pretty much had a 2nd career after their inductions--doing a bookoo of tours and albums AND getting good TV coverage(I remember seeing their videos on all the time from their last studio effort)

SO
I think they could still piddle around for another year and STILL come back with a good strong run.

Well, if they were with Sony/Legacy, there'd probably be about 3 or 4 (unauthorised by the band) compilations put out by now!

i agree with mikeL here.

vh, unfortunately, is running out of time. every month that passes by, they waste more time that could be generating interest in a reunion. now will have less interest than last year, and next year will have less interest, etc...if you look at it that way, it seems like the band doesn't care

I think we are burning out on all of this...However, I think VH can still get momentum...Of course, any album now will have to have hits on it...I think anything "experimental" could kill it, but an album with a couple hits will do it...Hits cure many ills...

Let us not forget that "the powers that be" probably have a great deal of control over all of this. BIG bucks are on the line...not just for WEA, but for the concert promoters, merchandisers, etc. I can't fathom a reunion NOT happening, but its scale, scope and timing are obviously in question. Sure, some time in the past may have seemed like the time to strike, but considering Ed's health problems, maybe it is a blessing in disguise that this whole thing has dragged out for soooo long. It has been very hard to be patient, and like many fans I feel some sort of announcement from the band is the LEAST that they could do. But again, who knows what "the powers" have to say about all that...

I am cautiously optimistic about the future of VH w/ Dave. I do not dismiss the idea that there may be a jam session or two and maybe even a few new tunes w/ Sammy way down the line...who knows! But forget a full-blown reunion of a Red Rockin' Van Halen. Sammy's got his hands full with his own band, nightclubs, and tequila promotion...not to mention young kids at home.

OK, I am now two-cents poorer...

Keep the faith!
