i would like to say that i have renewed faith in my fellow connecticut residents... WCCC (the local rock and metal station) had the sam vs. dave debate all weekend- and dave won by a LANDSLIDE- out of 33 hours of voting, sam only won 8 hours to dave's 25...

sorry to perpetuate the sam vs. dave bullshit, but it is inevitable when you have a sam and dave tour comin' around...

i like to add balance to this site, as it seems there are too many anti-dave posters here

don't get me wrong- i like the sam w/ VH sound- it is all great rock and roll- but it doesn't even come close to the original... glad i am not the only one who feels that way...

happy debating all... see ya'll at the show tomorrow night... peace (or at least as peaceful as possible... )

I called 4 seperate times to vote and I either got a busy signal or the phone just kept ringing. If I had gotten thru, I would have voted for DLR. I like Sammy as well but prefer Dave.

OK there are a few on the list that might think that this is a bit weird, but...I prefer Dave in VH, and prefer Sammy solo. I followed Sammy's solo career, and his time in VH, and while he had great success with the band, his footprint on the band was such a change, that the band lost fans. The band was more like one that was backing up the lead singer, rather than during the Roth era when attention was more on Eddie's talent. Nobody much cared that Dave didn't have "pipes" to be a great singer, he was the showman behind the act.

The Sam/Dave tour showed again that Dave is a great showman, and Sammy is a great singer.

There are those that will never forgive Eddie for bringing Sammy into the band, but on the other hand, Eddie was already trying to move into the pop end of rock, and Sammy was established as a pop rock singer, so the union made sense. When Eddie found that his music was no longer wanted by the masses, he tossed aside Hagar and stuck another knife into the body of VH.

I've heard all the "DLR is GOD and Sammy sux" shit, but in reality, they are both VERY capable artists that have been screwed by EVH and his ego.

Damn right there are too many anti-Dave people here. Why do I still post here instead of spending all my time at the Army? Well, I like the Army. But I love the fact that here not everybody agrees with me. That's what makes for debate.

Dave is more popular, and it definitely is a pickle in certain posters' asses here.

I think this poll is a reflection of the superior I.Q.'s of Northeast folk. Sam tends to be more popular in the "Deliverance" communities.

I asked 10 people in my office...Dave or Sammy...and it was split 5 to 5. Maybe I should call the LA Times and inform them of my important findings. I can see the headlines:

"10 WORKERS AT BRETT NORTON'S OFFICE SAY SAM AND DAVE ARE BOTH GOOD"

It's a silly poll guys, turned into another war.

In my office, the guys that like Dave Van Halen also like the Stones and Led Zeppelin. The guy that likes Sammy Van Halen also likes Journey and thinks Neil Pert (sp) is a better drummer than John Bonham. Kinda makes it all seem clear.

Famac, for such a big DLR-era fan, I find it funny your favorite song is "Mean Streets." Perhaps before dogging Sam, you might consider learning the name of your favorite VH song. Just a thought.

    And JOURNEY is better?

My friends and I were drunk just sitting around and a recent JOURNEY concert was on TV. We all sat around laughing our asses off watching this singer and the crowd...these horrible songs about love. It was the funniest thing I've ever seen.

While I did find that funny, don't you think you really are on too much of a Roth-fan witch-hunt these days, Brett?

Of course you found that funny, because it was.

I am on a "Dave vs. Sammy Flame War Threads" witchhunt. Eventually I'll ruin all of them so much, you guys will stop arguing about it. MUHAHAHAHAH!

    BTW, Journey sucks.
