    Hey everyone.

What kind of sound do you think Eddie will go on his new solo album (current working title: Van Disaster IV)

I'll think he'll want to distance himself even more from the classic Van Halen sound to make him appear detached and apathetic of the fans' musical preference.

He new singer will probably be an unknown guy, he'll have a better voice than Cherone but even more unsuited to sing the classics.

    But that's just my prediction.

Well, I think Eddie and his new "soulmate" Bryan Adams will write about 12 synthesizer drenched cheese ballads. Alex will bring back his $39.99 digital drum pad kit from 5150 and Eddie will program the bass parts with his keyboard, so Mikey doesn't even have to bother showing up for the recording.

The album's first single "Everything I Do (I Do To Fuck Over The Fans)" should be out by the end of January 2002, with the release of the album (working title : VAN DISASTER IV : FINAL NAIL IN THE COFFIN) in mid March 2002.

A nation wide tour of Denny's lounges is expected to follow next summer.

Nope. Just projecting a realistic outlook of how completely lame it would be if Eddie were to attempt to carry on as "Van Halen" without Dave at this point.

Is it really that unrealistic to think that only Roth and Hagar were capable of fronting Van Halen. At this point for the band to be commercially viable either Dave Or Sam would have to be back in the fold but that's not to say that a 4th singer with Van Halen couldn't produce some good tunes.

Yes. That was obvious by April of 1998 when VDIII had fallen off the charts before it was a month old. It was also obvious when the band failed to sell out a single venue on the VDIII tour. No band has ever succeeded with three singers. Eddie had his chance to break that streak. He couldn't, and furthermore after the way he treated Dave, Sammy, and the fans, he didn't deserve to. There are no bands with 4th singers who aren't complete jokes. Hell, very few bands even make it with a second singer.

At this point for the band to be commercially viable either Dave Or Sam would have to be back in the fold but that's not to say that a 4th singer with Van Halen couldn't produce some good tunes.

I doubt it. The songwriting on VDIII was pathetic. Now granted, Van Hagar had some cheesy songs, and Sammy had his share of lyrical felonies. But even at their worst, Van Hagar songs were logically constructed and coherently arranged. And of course Van HALEN was pure chemistry between Dave & Eddie. Even an Extreme album will show you that Cherone could write songs with Nuno. So what went wrong with VDIII??

Simple.. Eddie thought he was in charge, Gary went along with it and there was NO chemistry.

If Eddie doesn't work with Dave (or even Sammy)again, it's because his ego still wants to call the shots. (Actually it would be the first time, since Danniels was clearly pulling the strings in the VDIII era.

If Eddie can find another singer that will work under his thumb like Cherone did, there again will be no chemistry, and the music will suck.

And even if by some Twilight Zone miracle Eddie comes up with a decent album, Warner Brothers won't release it. They invested millions into promoting VDIII, and they lost all of it. If Dave, or even Sammy came back, the bands track record would be worth the risk. Without that, they only have VDIII as a precedent, and it's not going to make it to the pressing plant. WB took a 600% loss on VDIII compared to Balance or BOV 1. It would be bad business for them to do so again.

I can't believe people are still debating this. It's Dave or the grave.
