with bands like Poison, Journey (w/o Perry), and many others making comebacks this year, will the younger generations go see them and/or buy their albums?
Can they make it?

I for one really want to see the Poison "Glam Slam" tour.

I was at my mothers over the weekend, and a station changed formats from Classic rock to 80's & more. I heard songs from Blondie, Flock of Seagulls, Van Halen, Bon Jovi, Poison,Bobby Brown, and songs that I haven't heard in 10+ years. It was pretty cool to hear them. Sure brought back many memories.

Hey Eddymon have you heard the Journey song Higher Place from their new album?

It's great! It's the best song that they ever did I think.

Here in Indy, 97.1 FM has all 80's all weekend every weekend. They play more pop than hard rock, but it's great! As with any era, they all come back to being 'hip' after a while. And the bulk of the music of the last 10 years made time DRAG for me...I used to like about 80% of what I heard in the 80's on the radio. For the last 10 years, I would estimate that figure to be around 1% at best.

I don't know if the world is ready for an '80s resurgence, but I know I sure am.

I wish we had a rock station with an '80s format in this city. The closest we get is the handful they play on Saturday mornings on WTUE up in Dayton (which, well, isn't in this city so it doesn't count).

That would be the best thing to ever happen to music! Bring it on! No one would be happier than me if it happened.

Yesterday on the way home from work I popped in one of my homemade '80s music CDs. Now, maybe it was just the fact it was 70 and sunny around here then, but I really enjoyed it.

It's not so much that the talent or the songwriting skills were stronger in the '80s, it just seems to me most of the popular music in the '90s was all about doom and gloom. I for one enjoy a little substanceless mood-elevating pop music from time to time

80's music was pure fun.

most 90's was depressing and dark.

I want the 80's attitude back.

Bands didn't take themselves too seriously, but were still passionate about their music.

I disagree; I think that the majority of 80's musicians were FAR better players and writers than those of the 90's. Yes, there are exceptions, but for the most part it is true. (at least IMHO)

Well man, I'll tell you something... I'm so in need of some new, quality music that I'm starting to think a little Winger would rock right now.

Just to show you how desperate I am, I can actually intellectually discuss:

Have you noticed that Seventeen by Winger has a similar sound and feel as Shake and Tumble by Firehouse?

I can't find the song Stuff, it's not on Napster.

I don't have any Firehouse albums.

I can relate to Seventeen though, because I went out with a girl who told me she was twenty but I found out later on, that she was only seventeen! LOL! That song isn't true though, because she never showed me love like i've never seen.

Actually, Yankee, I don't think I found that song on Napster. I think that's from my old FTP scouring days.

Firehouse was another one of those unremarkable '80s hair metal bands that broke about '91 or so, IRRC.
