Why don't the boys just release the Goddamn album without any vocals at all, like a Satriani album? I know I'd settle for that instead of pulling my hair out waiting for hell to freeze over for Ed and Dave/Sammy to kiss and make up. Who's with me?

I'd buy it, but I'd prefer a singer, even if Ed and Mikey did the singing, or it was #4. Just an opinion.

Do you honestly think it would sell? I think only the die-hard fans would buy it. If it sold 50,000 copies it would be a miracle.

The closest thing to that which would still be commercially viable is to do an album with a dozen guest singers, similar to what Santana did. That could sell.

I know its not all about money, but the band needs to have a financial backer. An instrumental album is a long-shot.

No offense, but that would suck. I'd rather have no Van Halen than 3/4. It'd only be one step further down the road to mediocrity that was begun with 3.

You want the truth? Imho, I wouldn't even listen to 5150 When it was released! It took 6months after Ou812 was released before I started to get back into VH. Sammy kinda grew on me I guess, I started looking at it with the point of view that it was a completely seperate band that just happened to have the same name! After Sammy left, I really haven't been that much into them with the exception of Me Wise Majic(fucking awsome tune). Never even listened to III, don't care to either! So I guess at this point for me, IT'S DAVID LEE ROTH, OR IT'S NOTHING! PERIOD! I WILL NOT BUY A VAN HALEN ALBUM WITH ANYONE SINGING OTHER THAN DAVID LEE ROTH! I've been waiting since 1985, and at this point if it don't happen, then CYA BYE! Not that the band would or should care, they have to be true to themselves and their music FIRST!!!! I guess if I don't care for another singer besides Roth, or even if I don't like the new tuns, all that this simply means is that We have grown apart over the years. I will always respect VH and their right to do whatever the fuck they wish, but It doesn't mean I have to like it, or support it! So, to sum it all up for me, I guess that makes me one of those "DAVE OR THE GRAVE" guys! Peace!

    What album?

When Eddie says he has "three albums worth of material", he means riffs. It takes more than riffs to make songs. VDIII is what happens when you have riffs but no proper songwriting.

There won't be an album until Dave & Eddie get together and turn the best 12 or 14 riffs into SONGS.

I take back my previous post. Instead of changing your name to "DLR's Cheerleader," allow me to suggest "Eddie's Spokesperson."

You may as well create an alterego to act as spokesperson for every Van Halen affiliated character, since you like to appear omnipotent

Sorry but I wouldn't want a whole album worth of instrumentals. I don't mind a few songs (ie Balance) but no more. The Santana-type album idea isn't too bad but I'd prefer one singer.

I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Sure I like to hear vocals, but I really dug Respect The wind and I would LOVE to hear follow ups to that.

it wouldn't have to be called Van-Halen.. it could be an Eddie and Alex solo thing.
