    That's my theory.
    Think about it:
Dave & Sammy (& most likely Mike fairly soon if that Planet Us stuff happens) are chummy
& may tour. They may ask the Tribe of Judah to open. I think it's an indication that fences
can be mended and that they'll all be attempting to do just that once the band
becomes eligible for that honor when the time comes.

I think that if all this comes to happen, the VH brothers will come out of the woodwork &
get their act together and we may see some activity around 5150 again.

Call me crazy (and you won't be the first), but it's as possible as anything right now, actually
more possible than most scenarios out there.
Q: Recording the album took so long your Australian tour last year was cancelled. What was it like in the studio? There's a history of tension between you and Eddie Van Halen...

DLR: It was like a stand off in a Chuck Norris movie. We each had the laser dot on everybody's forehead waiting for the other guy to blink. Except for Wolfie, he had a Super Soaker ...

i don't think Gary will be inducted with the others. there's no rule that says every member of the band goes in at induction. had VH3 been "groundbreaking," or maybe a huge seller, i could see his inclusion, but i'd almost bet that the only way he gets in the HOF is if he buys a ticket.

Well, as crazy as this may seem....

I don't think Van Halen are a shoe in for the Hall of Fame. The voters (critics) have not exactly welcomed hard rock acts into the hall. I think one day they will get in, but I wouldn't place a bet on a first ballot entry.

I hope I'm wrong, but look at this years inductees...

    The Talking Heads??? WTF?

There were stranger inductees than TH this year. Brenda Lee?

Lotta people don't like TH, and thats fair enough, but they have been a pretty influential group. Albums like 'Remain in Light' helped break down the black/white divisions in rock radio. Groups such as REM, Radiohead and the Chilli Peppers openly cite TH as a major influence. 'Stop making sense' is arguably the best concert movie ever. And all the band members have had a lot of success 'behind the scenes' as producers/writers since the band split up as well.

Anyways though, I do agree VH might find themselves out in the cold for a while.

Gonna move this to speculation guys!

I agree man, I think allot of what's being mentioned is associated with the Hall of Fame.

But I don't think it's by accident, I really believe it's just a big play to get into the public's eye again, for everyone involved.

Everyone involved, regardless of there outward appereance are businees men at heart, they just dress up like Rock Stars now. They want to push there product to as many people as possible for as long as possible, and then go out on top with some dignity. With everyone supposedly seperated at this time that would be impossible, no matter what us Hard Core fans might think.

Sammy will never again be a major player in rock without Van Halen.

Dave is in the same boat.

Van Halen need at least one of those first two guys, not another "New" singer, that's not going to work. But they do have a much better shot then Dave and Sammy, if they chose to start over again, they just would have to write amazing song's that people under and over 25 would enjoy, I seriously doubt that would happen though.

For all parties it would be in everyone's best interest for all to get back togethor, on the same sheet of music, and acting like there all pals, which there probably not.

All this "strange" news shows which direction Van Halen is heading, there on there way out the door. They would just like to make it appear that it's on there own terms. There going to start "Just Showing Up" at each other's shows, Dave at Sammy's, Dave at Planut Us, Eddie at Dave/Sammys, Ed and Alex at Samm and Dave's, something like that. Then they can do something large and spectacular togethor, just in time for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame thing to start buzzing around, then Bam, end of 2003 there in the Hall, secure in there mark on Rock Music.

And then everyone is free to pursue other musical interest's without the stigma of the name Van Halen attached to it.

This sound's allot like what Fleet Wood Mac pulled off not to long ago. They never would have gotten in without getting back togethor, they had to remind allot of people that they actually used to really exist. Same for Van Halen.

Nothing happen's by accident in Rock Music anymore, there's to much money at stake.

I am in agreement with Grover. The R&R HOF is very little about Rock & Roll. This years class pretty much sucks. There are so many true rock groups that don't get recognition it is becoming a joke. The HOF committee is just as bad as the the people who pick the winners of the other award shows. It has more to do with who's ass you are kissing than true talent.

    The End.
If it will rock we will roll.

true, which explains why all the San Francisco/Bay Area hippie bands got in early, thanks to that asshole Jann Wenner.

Well, I thought Ramones/TH/Tom petty were pretty fair picks. Not so sure of the others, they seemed a more little dubious.

As for bands that have missed out - that'll always be a raging issue. I'd dare say once the 25 year thing starts to drag into looking at the bands the 1990s, a lotta older acts that had been looked over in the past are gonna find themselves in there!

Granted the whole thing is an overblown wank club, but that's pretty much standard procedure as soon as you try to issue any kind of recognition process to anything.

I guess my argument with the HOF - is do you want something that represents the diversity of rock, or are you gonna make it a fine definition.

Personally I'd prefer to see it as something that has a wide representation and pays some kinda recognition to the whole wide spectrum that Rock now encompasses, rather than fill it up with 500 variations on the classic rock band blueprint.
